1999 SE-L Which ypipe?

Well, Im officially back in the Maxima game with 1999 SE-L. My question now is, What Y-pipe can I use on it? I know this one has that extra O2 sensor on the top of the stock pipe or is it the headers? Regardless, What are my options? Any advice will be much appreciated....

Thanks....

If you have the extra o2 sensor, you have a CA spec Maxima so you need a CA spec y-pipe. You should decode your VIN to be sure though.

Look at the aluminium plate rivited on the passenger side firewall.

On the plate you will see the VIN number and below that is the options line. Look at the 12th character.
U = non California, USA
V= California
N = Canada

So I've been told it would be a good idea to convert from a Cali spec to fed spec so I can add the full y pipe and get the most HPs. Is there a link to do this?
Is it worth it than just getting a ca spec Y?
How hard is it to replace the header is my main concern?

It's not hard at all. But what you're not realizing it that you're gonna have some extra O2 sensors to worry about as they'll no longer have a home. You'll need a a dual O2 simulator. Wiring that up isn't fun. Been there, done that.

there is, but I'm having trouble finding it at the moment. It's old. You go through the stickies? I think it's there too.

CALI to FED conversion

Is this the thread you're seeking?

https://maxima.org/forums/5th-genera...tallation.html

I'll be installing an aftermarket FED y-pipe onto my 2000 SE-L Cail emissions in the near future. I've read that you need an O2 simulator for that additional O2 sensor in the front catalyst.

AHHH it was in the 5th gen section, Awesome! Thanks dude. I guess it doesnt look to bad to wire it up, but still, one little mess up and its a new o2 sensor thats needed, which would suck.... so I need just 1 o2 sensor simulator? but just the double sim right?
Wheres a good place to get it? certain brand?
