nissan maxima engine swap
hey, i have a 2001 nissan maxima 20th aniversary edition, it has 290xxx km on the original motor, im looking to swap it out for a faster nicer engine, and was wondering what engine would be good to swap with, i would also be looking to boost the engine, I would like to go with a twin cam engine, i dont really know much about cars, i just want my car to go fast and have a nice solid engine and tranny,

lmao at you already have twin cam just get a 08 engine from another max but idk why everyone jokes on hondas cause the fastest hondas **** on our maximas and most nissans but i love my maxima cause its faster than atleast 60-70 imo percent of cars on the road

But my favorite is people who have the supercharged 03 grand prix who think it's fast...Drop down 2 gears and dust them with the snap of a finger.

2003 Supercharged Grand Prix
HP: 240
Curb Wt.: 3559lbs.
Transmission: 4 speed Automatic
2003 Maxima SE
HP: 255
Curb Wt.: 3224lbs.
Transmission: 6speed Manual
And thats just on paper. I'm not not talking about beating the Grand Prix, I'm talking about blowing the DOORS off it.
If you ever get a chance to drive a VQ35 6spd Maxima, do it!

lmaoo not the little ricer ones the ones that actually got ***** under the hood. its easier to mod a little civic and turbo it then our cars imo and when they put 250 hp to the ground thats alot considering how much they weigh. but stock vs stock i rather drive a nissan. + if a souped up civic tried to race me i wouldnt hesitate cause if its a ricer theres no chance but i just wasted my gas and if he wins cause its built nicely then good for him/her

Stock Grand Prix's (GTP V6 Supercharged) are not that fast...
...low/mid 15's in the 1/4 mile.
Stock Grand Prix's (GXP V8) are a bit quicker...
...low 14's in the 1/4 mile.
So it depends on year and model of GP.

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?!?!?!?!
1: Well built b18 and H22 will blow the doors of a max
2: A b16 with hellaflushyo rims and an ebay camber kit will not
3: Are we really arguing pontiac here???? Who would even mod a gran prix??
Its like giving breast implants to your grandma...
4: Nissan is sexy in an understated way, unless you are in the nissan "number" squad (ie, 350z, 240sx, etc...)
5: CJ hates rice....

Man you just don't know. The aftermarket for the 3800's is almost as strong as it is for Mustangs and other similar cars. I'm talking about built engines, transmissions, heads, cams, turbo conversions, suspension, exhaust, electronics, ECU's, supercharger parts and upgrades, standalone's, long tube headers, the works. ZZ Performance is just one example of companies out there that make stuff for these cars. When I had my GTP, I bought it used for about half the price of a used GT Mustang, and for just a few hundred dollars in mods, it was faster.

That's GM for ya. The car basically had a broomstick for a camshaft and an extremely restrictive exhaust, among other things. Also, they didn't want the car outrunning the Trans Am, either. GM learned their lesson back in the 80's when Buick's were outrunning Corvette's. They didn't want to repeat that same mistake twice in the 90's. However, in the mid-side 4 door V6 front-drive market of cars back then, you couldn't get anything faster at that time. Ford did the same thing with the SHO. When that car came out in 89, it was outrunning Mustang's, and by 96 when it was redesigned, it didn't make any more power despite the SHO having a V8, but it was now a heavier car with an automatic only, no more manual.
