i would have done a 350Z manifold, u will have hell trying to get that IM to fit under the hood.

Cams also, what Cams do u plan on running? If u are using the stock VQ30 Cams u are pretty much wasting time. atleast buy some rev-ups.

I get the impression the OP's skillset can work around this.

Very very nice work, didn't think something that clean would show up after seeing the tostitos bag

^^^^^^ lol...

looks good, but aren't there other motors for that s13 that will support high boost without as much modification/rework in the engine bay? Skyline motors with the TT?

Nice, i wouldnt really do the valves might not be worth it.

What are u doing as far as ECUs are concerned? Have u looked into standalones or are u gonna stock ecu/piggyback?

You can't run a stock KA ECU on a VQ

KA can drive 4 injectors/4 coils, whereas the VQ needs six...

obviously not, stock VQ ECU/piggy back.

My bad.

Stock A32 ECU/engine harness would be legit if you could keep the gauge cluster working.

I'm more curious about the 'plenum'. My imagination wants to see a pathy UIM butterfly-plate set atop the runners, strung up to a TPS + cable drive with some socks on the end of the 'open air' box/plenum. Go speed density and the TB/intake routing issue is solved.

if i could go with stand alone i would go with a vq35 and itbs

So pretty much a stand alone? (Nistune, Apexi Power FC, etc). Rev-up cams breath up to 7200-7300rpm. Make sure to pick up a rev-up oil pump aswell.

BTW something i saw the other day, a VQ running off Z32 ECU, i dont know how it was done but it can be done.

well its been a while since i've postd an update ...SO here it goes:
it was hell trying to fit the custom intake manifold under the hood so i decided to put a 350z IM (spacer is on its way). i had to change to DE-K injectors on the 350z lower intake and got and VAFC2 to tune when it gets up and running

so here are some pics...enjoy

Nice build....cool seeing the VQ in other apps....there's a guy on NC running almost identical setup IIRC (VQ30,350z IM) in a first gen OBD1 Altima ('93/'94) and is getting ready to SC it...

thanks for the nice comments but sadly i didn't took any pics of the heads but it wasn't that much,...you just have to use the 3.5 gasket as a guide and do it very slowly,.........i want to repaint my valve covers maybe i'll remove the lower IM to snap some pics

the bad thing is that it doesn't wants to start ,it just cranks over and over but no start and my ECU does not turn on the small red blinker for diagnostic mode when i turn my key on , i think my ECU is dead (i have never own a maxima but think it should turn on when i spin the little screw on the ECU) and i have a lot of codes mainly for the stuff i removed IACV,EGR,IAT,MAP/baro sensors

can anyone help me???

The screw on the ecu should be spun all the way counter clockwise until you feel the little stop.

http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html

Use that to reset it and try again.

Of the stuff you have removed, only the IACV and EGR effect starting but the car should still turn on.

Looks great so far. As for your spark problem, are you using a 1999 ECU?

check the 2 ground wires that use to attatch to the lower intake manifold.

Verifique los cables de tierra dos que se utiliza para conectar al menor colector de admisión.

Probably the single most over looked ground.

+1

Im wondering if he even retained those grounds off the harness.

But the symptoms that he is having sounds like a classic case of not having these grounds grounded properly.

I dont know how many times ive seen these threads and this is the ground that is over looked. 9 times out of 10 you will have to relocated it since you wont have those grounds on the LIM anymore(with the exception of retaining the LIM from the 4th gen when doing th 00VI swap or just doing a straight vq30 swap)

If I were you I would do a couple things. First, make sure your ECU has good power and ground. Use a multimeter in voltage mode to check for power, and then use the resistance mode to check to ensure the grounds on the ECU harness connects to the negative battery terminal. You should come up with less than 1 ohm when measuring the resistance between the ECU harness ground and the negative battery terminal. I would check each power and ground on the ECU harness. Pins where you should see 12 volts with the ignition in the "on" position are 24, 67, 72 and 80. ECU grounds are 10, 19, 25, 32, 108, 116 and 124. You will have to connect a small solid wire to the end of your multimeter probe to be able to make contact with the ECU connector pins.

If that's all good, Make sure your coils have good power and ground connections as well. The coils are supplied by 12 volts when the ignition switch is in the "on" position through the red wire to each coil. The black wire to each coil is ground. Confirm those connections with the ignition switch in the "on" position.

If that checks out, double check the connections to the cam and crank (both REF and POS) sensors, and make sure they are running to the correct pins of the ECU.

Here is something you can test, put the key to the ON position (ignition ON), then go to the engine bay, and run a wire from the 12v battery to the starter cable (ofcourse unplug it first). And turn the motor, if it starts is because you have an ignition issue such as antitheft system or something like that.

well here's and update,it has finally started....it was the rear crankshaft sensor,it was misaligned with the teeth of the flywheel, anyway ,i took it for a test drive and all i can say is wow!!!! the vq30 with the 6 speed feels super torquey,i can go at like 10mph and floor it in 3rd and it will go like when i had first gear in the KA24,i still need a tune because of DE-K injectors on a stock vq30DE ECU ...i need a tune, and thats my problem i have the VAFC2 wired up but it doesn't get a RPM signal ,so i can't lean it out i can smell the fuel coming from the exhaust....does anyone knows where does the ECU gets the rpm signal??? cam sensor?? front crank sensor??

my parts list
A32 engine, harness,ECU
Z33 6-speed,oil pan,rear coolant tube
3" intake
pathfinder TB
Z33 intake manifold
OBX Z33 5/8 intake spacer
ebay Z33 headers(heat wrapped),Y pipe
custom downpipes
ebay s13 exhaust
VAFC2 (untuned)
6 puck clutch disk with a very grabby PP
1 piece driveshaft
mobil 1 engine synthetic oil
amsoil GL4 tranny fluid
no emissions equipment,no IACV, no EGR,no a/c,no power steering

but here are the latest pics

i'll post more pics next the week

looks good man! Here is what you need to hook up your vafc/safcII correctly http://www.jimesmaxima.com/S-AFCII4thGen.html

then make sure you have your setting right. It is was previously used on a 4 cylinder car (or something else) you will need to change the settings to the appropriate settings for the A32.

IF you didnt find it out the ECU gets the RPM signal from the crank sensor, specifically the rear one reading off the flywheel.
