firestone tires
#1
Yeppp...this weekend, I got my firestone tires. Yes, I may sound a bit crazy, but I want to let you guys know that they tires are quite impressive. Well, I was about to order my Dunlop sp5000 last week when this guy over the phone told me about these firestone sh30's. He told me they were great for the rain and snow. Well, I didn't place my order last week, because I wanted to get some feedback on the boards. Well, as it seems, this weekend, I had a tire go and I had to replace it with the damn donut spare. (it sucks btw). I was in another state, and I said, well, let me see how these firestones are. They have a 30 day satisfaction package. In short, I had them mounted balanced...and they are quite good in the dry--and wet. I have to say that I am quite impressed --not bad for a buy 3 get one free deal.

yeah, be real careful
I hear if you drive 200mph @ 200 degrees for 2 hours that <25% of them will blow
Actually, a good friend of mine's wife had tread separation on her minivan with firestones last month. Obviously, its not just a ATX thing. Someone actually got her attention and she was able to stop before blowing the rear tire. But it was definately separated. And yes it was 111 degrees at the time.

you guys are really scaring me now. *that I am being serious* Well, with the winter coming soon--I guess i should be safe *temporarily* for now. I live up in the northeast--NYC to be exact--I hope I will be safe
I dunno if I am going to see the 110 weather you guys see down in the south, but there will be days it will be in the 80's and 90's and I might be on the highway doing 75/80---and I hope nothing will happen!!!
TimW--would you know what kind of tires she had on her car that almost blew the tire?
damn!! why don't those dunlop sp5000's come in 215/60 15'??/?
ARGGGHHHH!@!!!

by all means...
dont think youre driving on donuts of primed TNT. I will send him an email and get the model/size of the tire. but in all fairness to firestone, there were several contributing factors.
The heat prolly did it, but it was also the right rear of the minivan. I would guess that she never looks at her tires and its totally possible she was driving with the wrong psi (although my friend is a nut about this stuff and does check all the cars regularly because his wife and daughter wont).
My only fear about that brand would be that they have shown that they would rather hide reports of failure than take care of it. that worries me in general about them. but I havent heard of any passenger car separations or anything negative about the RE's
