This is only for the passenger side airbag
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...4V361-2698.pdf
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2002-2003 Nissan Maxima, Pathfinder and Infiniti I35 and QX4, as well as 2002-2004 Nissan Sentra and 2003 Infiniti FX vehicles, to address a safety defect in the passenger side frontal air bag which may produce excessive internal pressure causing the inflator to rupture upon deployment of the air bag.

Just what I would want plastered on the internet if I did get into an accident and a passenger was maimed or killed because of a defective airbag.

I dont have to do anything. Its their job, if they wanna come to my house and fix their mistake at my convenience then fine. Otherwise its just gonna be their fault if something does ever happen lol...
No really tho, I still might do it some day if I have nothing to do and bunch of hours to kill one day..
Now if this was a recall I cared about, like something motor related, I would go there and do it immediately.

Lol not my fault. Blame Nissan or actually not even them, blame the airbag company. Its their fault.

But do keep in mind that, when the faulty cannister explodes, the shards do not all go directly toward the rear of the car. The inside of some of the cars that have had this cannister explode look like a grenade went off, as the damage is everywhere.
We don't want to lose one of our regular posters.
p.s. - I know how you feel about going to dealers. Until I found my current dealer, I tried to avoid dealers also.

Keep in mind that the list of affected vehicles is a moving target. For instance, the original list never mentioned Ford, but we later found out my wife's 2004 Ford Ranger has the dangerous bags.
This has also become a political football, and millions of cars are now affected. Common sense tells us it will take years to fix millions of cars.

^^ I hear all that you guys are saying, was trying a bit of sarcasm but hard to convey it over the interwebz. I thought the was gonna be a giveaway lol
Yeah basically its just a matter of going to the dealer and wasting time. We have a good dealer I think these days, where we bought wifes 7th gen. But still a pain.
I hope my airbags never have to open in the first place, thats the best option

I have many friends who found their passenger side bag was on the list, and simply turned the bag off (many vehicles have that option with a simple turning of the key). But the brutal truth is that they are more likely to be injured because the bag was turned off and they were in an accident than they are of having the airbag cannister explode when deploying.
