I been to Orlando 3 times within the last 10 months. I know the city pretty well, but since I don't see any mention of ANY KIND OF REAL RACING... I won't attend.
Not that anyone will miss me or anything, but drag racing is not what I like to do.
I'm driving out to Vegas for the SE-R convention with 3 cars in the back of my brothers Peterbuilt 379.... now thats called dedication.

At this time of the year there is a TON of bugs out and our cars will be covered in them. I know, I just came back from FL a month ago.
Disney, Universal, Gator Land, NASA, etc.... yeah main attractions- that cost a ton of $$$. I know I have to visit Disney every time I am there and.... in the last 3 visits to Orlando (in the 10 month span) I plunked down over 14K dollars on vacations there.
Its a nice place to visit, but its not cheap- and most people from out in my hood will wanna go hit up the theme parks, there really isn't anything else worth seeing there.

dont forget about making this cost effective... since florida is so damn far for everyone... half of us will be broke by the time we get there.... lol
no matter where it is... if i can scrounge the money together for gas/food/lodging and activities, i will be there...(i'm a poor college student unfortunately)

I won't be there.
No way for me to take that much time out of my schedule.
Personally I can wrangle a cheap place to stay, and free tickets for the parks (done that before). But no time

And heck yea Southflorida does it big with our bi-yearly meets, AT LEAST 30 cars attend.
Like some folks have already said, ANYPLACE in the US is going to be far from a bunch of people, so a poll will eventually be needed. Orlando is a good location to not just have a Maxus, but a good excuse to bring the g/f or the family at the same time, since there's so many attraction all over, if anything, Tampa's Bushgardens is less than 1hr away from Orlando on the I-4.
And Im going to have to HALF disagree with Blackbird. Yea, summers are hot and yea there's bugs, but thats how Florida and most of the southeastern swaplands of the US are during the summers anyways, but I have no idea how he spent $14k on 3 visits to Orlando (and I dont want to ask either, thats his personal business) whatever the case may be, from my personal experience of going there the last 2 yrs for Universal Studios/ Halloween Horror Nights and for parties, aside from the transportation and lodgin costs, I didnt spend much more $ in Orlando than I do when I go out here in Miami. And if its something that (if planned ahead) can be afforded by a group of college students working part-time jobs, I dont see why the members that would like to attend should be scared into how "expensive" Orlando is... ( found liquor to be cheaper there than at Miami ... yea thats the partying part LOL)

How does anyone know that "ANY PLACE IN THE US WILL BE TO FAR FOR PEOPLE"? geographicly.....yes....But what if there are 10,000members on the east and only 5,000 on the west? then it would be logical to have it on the east..correct? someone should start a poll...simply choose eastern, western, or central for maxus08...from there..there should be another poll off north south or centrel of the chosen region....then finaly a third poll for which state....this poll should be posted on all maxima forums(nycmaximas.org...etc) to get a somewhat majority vote for a selected region

Having Maxus in the heart of Orlando would be a big no no, hotels would be packed and they would jack up the prices. Since Orlando is one of the main focal places to have weddings and such. Yes it would be nice to have it in Orlando, but from a budget stand point no. The hotel here, was packed as well, since there was a wedding going on that same weekend. I'm down for Florida, but if its going to be in the East coast I'd prefer DC so you can get some of the NY/NJ guys there too since they have a huge following as well.

I paid 600 bux for a bad *** Suite with Hyatt hotel in Orlando 2 months ago, for 8 nite stay... www.travelocity.com This was right by downtown Disney right off Atopka Highway and Vineyard Ave ? If I recall correctly. We stay around that area every time we go to Orlando.
Hotels are not that expensive down there. You can fit like 6 people in a Suite w/o a problem.

I would love to go to maxus, I considered texas and even more so chicago, but I guess I would have to see closer to the time of going, if I would have the time... I would love to meet up with some of the NW/cali and az maximas and somewhere down the line with the colorado/texas maxes and caravan, that would be sick!
VIP, I drove my SC max 3 days straight from Virginia to UT, no problems.

To anybody that is reading, on March 16th, 2008, there is going to be a huge Maxima Meet in West Palm Beach, FL. We have people coming from as far away as Michigan and Pennsylvania! We are shooting to have close to 100 Maximas in attendance.

As far as Maxus, it's going to be held in Chicago again this year. But I hope they set a date soon. I won't be able to make such a long trip on such short notice.

DC would probably be the best area since this will include the Maximas from Chicago, NY, DC, Carolinas, and the rest of the Southeast, including all the Maximas in Florida. NY and DC have the strongest Maxima presence of anywhere in the country. But it will boils down to who is willing to coordinate the event. That was the problem this year is that nobody from DC was able to step up for 2008 Maxus.
