1st time at track, and for a 2000 I'm very dissapointed

I ran 3 times, and it was horrible, the first one was a base run I think it was low 16.00
2nd run: squeezed the juice got a good reaction time of .960 but did a 15.898(bad)
3rd run: slow reaction 1.115, not focused, squeezed the bottle right off the line when I saw the honda getting me off the line, and ran a slow 15.627 which was the best time......
I'm so dissapointed in my times, I was mad, and thought I was going to hit mid 14's, and what was the worst my second run i hit some oil or water, and ended up slamming into the tire wall, not fun, I'm ok, the car wasn't to bad.
I was going over everything in my head, and one thing i didn't do was torque brake(since I have auto)there was no reving the engine it was from a dead stop, so next time I go I will use that as my launch, not from just sitting there.
any input from any of of racers would be much appreciated!!!!!!

What mods do you have? Also, what was your 60'? Did you do a burnout or drive around the waterbox.

16.00 sounds about right for a STOCK 5th gen auto.

You are right Bernie, I have basically the same stuff and run a 13.6 with a 75 shot so something is wrong somewhere.

hey bernie maybe you sould look into shooting zex a few e-mails. those times really do not sould right. i think there can be something wrong with your zex nitrous control unit.

anyone else think this can be right?????

I think part of it may be that you are unfamiliar with how the race is running...so add in the additional concern you were giving the nitrous system hoping for more than it would give you and it may have been a distraction...definetly more runs down the track will allow you to concern yourself with the most vital items in the line-up and launch.

I am surprised you ran again but admire your fortitude. I would have stopped personally.

Personally I would go back to the shop that juiced you (literally and figuratively) and complain the intake jet was obviously left out of your system...that is what we found after your base run.

wooooweeeee

That really hurts, especially when there is a 5th GEN running 15.2 stock.

Well, I don't know too much about nitrous, but if you're hitting the bottle as you're launching, wouldn't that cause you to heaving spinning. Please post your 60' that might be where the problem lies.

i think i need a new knock sensor..

I ran a 16.1 in my auto the first time to the track. Second trip to the track i ran a 15.81@ 88.14mph. My 60' was 2.43. With new tires and better launch i should get around 15.6. So i think your time is right for an auto, without nos though.....

Oh yeah, and i have no performance mods at all, this was in mid 80 degree weather too

ok I might have found a little something that might help next time. We changed my jets before the n20 race, and put a fuel jet in, after talking to people they said i should not of done that, so I will give you an update next time i go to the track.
My 60' was 2.479
330 6.798
1/8 10.283
1000 13.273
1/4 15.727

I was so mad I lost to a Honda here. Bernie

That's slow even for an auto. I ran a 15.3 w/ I/Y/E when I had an auto, and you're squeezing a 75shot and only pullin out a mid 15's?!
What size wheels are you using?

E.T. means near to nothing when you have a horrible launch....what was your trap speed for each run??? That will give us a MUCH better indicator of weither it's the driver or the car.

LOL!

Bernie; it was probably the juice too, but try getting drag radials or at least avoid using a larger/low profile tire : it will slow you down.

I have no other powertrain/powertrain-related parts aside from the blower and the vb which makes my car actually shift, and I was stuck running a 15.3 (but pinging so I stopped) - with 60 ft's of 2.4xx. At bone stock I ran 15.898 too

My trap speeds are around 100mph, and I'm running on 245/45 S-03 PP's - they're sticky, but my setup still isn't quite the solution for drag racing either!!

Get used to running the juice, and launching - then you'll eventually get the hang of it. If you go on a bad day when you're not paying attention to the staging lights, you'll probably run pretty crappy times too

Well, I forgot about this thread until today, anyways I guess we have some comedians here on the org putting there absurd input, but it's all good.
Jer, your 100% correct what you just put, Augie we ran at Fontana, come out next weekend.
I found out something today that is probably the problem, I'm running extremely rich, so I'm actually going to use the 65 shot instead of the 75, and see what happens here. thanks all for your good input, and hopefully have a better update next weekend when we all go back to Fontana,Calif. see ya...........Bernie

My time wasn't all that great either Bernie. I went to Palmdale last week and ran for my 1st time. My best time was 15.413 @92.121 MPH. I keep on seeing people on the board doing high 14's. Is it a Cali thing or what? I was expecting to do low 15's or high 14's.

Aren't there certain tracks in Cali' that are pretty high above sea level? If Palmdale is one of them, then your times will need to have a correction factor subtracted from your actual times. Augie this may put you close to the times you were expecting.

Yeah..they are above sea level or something. Now I have to go to LACR.NET to figure out my actual time. Damn, I hate math. :/

anyways a 70 shot got me 1 sec off my et's

but i am also running rich like a ****.
15.1## on 70 shot. hmmmm i think i need to A get bigger fuel jets
or b get bigger nitrous jets i am at like 82psi with a .55 jet
my .42 jet i was like at 90 psi fuel pressure. wow i can run 100 shot.

those are pretty bad times considering your modded, and are spraying, something is definitely wrong with you nitrous kit. get it checked and do some more runs. or try running without the nitrous and see what you get.

When your launching an auto power brake it to 1800-2000 rpm. Try to get a good idea of the timing of the lights to bring down your reaction time a little. I was guessing that you may be running rich too, but someone already beat me to it. Lean your fuel out a little, this with your new launching stradegy should get your times much lower, I would also wait to squeeze the juice until your car hits second, as soon as it shifts juice it.

Thanks Street Reaper:
For the input, I will try that also someone said to try launching the car with the overdrive on, I'm willing to try anything to see if it works. Bernie

thats awful. my first time as stock 2k1 auto, i got a 16.1, but i managed to bring that down to 15.7 bone stock. now, with just my berk intake, i'm at 15.5 @ 91. Something is seriously wrong if you're pulling that high of 15's with all those mods AND juice. with those mopds, you should be at 15 flat, juice should put you DEEP into the 14's...
