ive never understood why people take out seats and things of that nature for the 1/4 mile run. i know obviously it saves weight, but do you drive on the hw without a passener seat?? **** no. so why do it at the track? you cant pull out your seat when racing on the street so why lie to yourself by taking your seats out when going to the track?

Times look nice, but like I said before, let's see a time slip.

Track opens up here in April, I am looking to hit 13.6.

out of the hole

BJS 3.5SE:
my friend has an 02 3.5 altima that he plans on taking to the track this spring. what is your launching technique? i can only imagine your guys cars have a ton of torque steer due to a good deal of torque and FWD. i am curious how high you are launching and your clutch modulation as well. FWD is not my territory as i own a 90 eclipse GSX where a 2.0 sec 60ft is nothing to brag about. thanks and good runs by the way.

If your driving in a straight line TQ steer is not a problem. TQ steer get's you when you floor it while turning. Atleast thats my take on it..

Re: Re: out of the hole

Torque steer is a problem in a straight line also. It's due to the fact that FWD cars often have unequal length drive shafts and due to the rotation of the axles(I think). It's usually not a problem on FWDs until the industry(or tuners) were starting to get over the 230-240ish hp and 220ish ftlbs torque. Probably why Nissan opted for the HLSD tranny w/ the VQ3.5

ALL that stuff i toke off only saved me like 80-90
lbs...but converting to single exhuast also shaved 30-35 lbs off..
a stock base ALTY SE has a curb weight of 3197 lbs...mine was down to 3005 lbs + driver
If I wanted to spend some time i think i could take off another 75-80 lbs..i think the rear seatback weighs a bite

What if you don't race on the street. I've run my car in street trim and i know what it runs. When you are trying to push the envelope you do what you can. Taking 5 minutes to save 100lbs of weight is not a big deal. Stripping the car to bare metal is, but thats not what we do.

launch technique

so how are you launching your car do get those 2.2 sec 60 ft times?? that is the only part of the race that matters...anyone can shift gears, it is the initial 60ft that makes or breaks your time.

Oh and with the weight of the car..that 75-80lbs...is worth only about .1 or less in dropped et....
I DONT STREET RACE ne more...i have my two young sons in the car most of the time..i used to street race big time for four or five years, goin out racin for money in San Jose and LA areas..but times change...
But i can understand what ur talkin bout knowin what my car runs...in street trim...alota DSM guys are that way to..,I RESPECT that...

My post was directed at slickrick, not you. I read your original post I know what you took out. I was explaining to him that going to the track is not about seeing what youre car can run in street trim its about seeing what it can run given every possible advantage. Oh and BTW, I have driven with my front seat out for over a month because I went to the track multiple times every week (not just the drag strip, road courses too) that month and to put it in just to take it back out in 4 days was pointless.
