great 60' times, i wish i could get it that low. But there was no traction and it was cold. this was my best run tonight:
r/t: .918
60': 2.530
1/8: 10.258
MPH: 70.45
1/4: 15.739
MPH: 89.77

temp: 40
humidity: 82

All i have is an intake and an ACT clutch, but i couldent take advantage of the clutch cause i have worn all-season tires on and i couldent get a grip. Also it was my first time at the track.

your trap is a little slow there geo

whisky: mine is a 99 auto with intake & no spare tire (we get full size spare here in Canada, i took it out)

my best run:
60' 2.382
330' 6.726
1/8et 10.279
1/8mph 69.76
1/4et 15.852
1/4mph 86.70

I got a y-pipe on now, should be able to do 15.5 or better if I can get a good launch

my 1/8 speed is slower then yours with a slightly better launch, but my trap at the end is a little higher then yours ... weird... I think its the intake

a 2.39 is not exactly a great 60ft time, 2.2's are good for a max and 2.1's are great on street tires. A 2.53 is terrible, but the cold can make it hard sometimes.

i know the 60' times are not good but it was my first time at the track and i was really nervous and i did not change anything in my car as far as tire pressure or removing anything(2 12", spare tire, jack, etc...),i weighed in at 3408 lb.

Also i ran a WRX and the guy ran a 2.646 60' time and finished at 14.4 at 103mph, so traction sucked.

One thing i learned is the first time you go to the track dont get your hopes up because you will be disappointed. people getting the 2.2 and 2.1 know how to launch and do it on a good traction day.

I didn't mean that to make fun of your driving or experience, I just didn't know if you knew what maxima's were capable of at the track.

Traction was really bad though, a red 350z 6speed couldnt break into the 14's, he even ran a 16.1 once.

Next time I go, I plan to clean out my car, remove the spare, and box. I also wanna let a little air out the tires. Im hoping for some 15.5's .

George, did you take any pics? Did anyone take pics? Post em!

Yeah its free, after you run down the strip, and go on the little side road to get your timeslip, on the right is a little (well, not little) scale that you drive onto and it tells you your weight.

you're 5spd right?
looks like you have an auto kind of time...but then i read ACT clutch and im like wtf? hehe
my launches were 2.4's which is pretty bad, but i ended up getting 15.0-15.1's and 93-95 traps on my first track day
but i know what you mean by being nervous and all...i was going on green so all my reaction times were 1+...lol
i'd also do a tune up, cause if you're driving moderately well, the car might not be making as much power as it should be.

I ran a 15.7 at the track my first time with a po-charger and catback, and I am auto with everything in it. I think I can run a 15.5 but I am so god damn nervous.

i said the same thing. "whf?" when i got my slip, but honestly my tires gripped better when i was on my way down to the track on regular roads, but that could have been the nerves talking, im sure next time ill be more relaxed and get better 60' times, which should lower time times. So it cant get any worse, i hope.

yeah me and you both...
i can launch so much better on the street than at the track.
the day i went with 4 other maxima's, we were all hitting 2.4's
so our track conditions just suck...well at least the day i went (last day of the year)
thats why when i see people hitting 2.1's and 2.2's with all seasons, i'd like to see that done at my track hehe

60' times

2.50 = horrible
2.40 = bad
2.30 = good
2.20 = awesome
2.10 = fricken awesome!!!

For every tenth you improve your 60' time by, that will translate to about a TWO-tenths improvement on your 1/4 mile ET.

Most of the guys that get good stock times usually get at least a 2.30 60' time or something around there. The guys that have hit 14's stock with the manual (3.0 4th and 5th gen's) have all gotten 2.2xx 60' times or better I think. So the biggest factor in ET is the launch, which is up to the driver. The trap speed is the best indicator of how well your car is actually performing. Your shift points and shifting speeds (how long the shift takes) with the manual will affect your trap a lot also, though.

That's not a traction issue, that's a driver retardation issue

i had a few 2.3's as well...i think the best being a 2.35
but thats still pretty crappy for being our BEST times...lol

don't you find it weird other people are hitting 2.2's consistently at other tracks?

never said it wasent a driver issue but the track sucked. Also i looked at my car and the sides of the doors where covered in blck rubber, that can be right shouldnt they clean that $hit off the track so that the traction is better?
