You already know the answer. What were the rest of your 60' times?

DOH! I didn't know if that was one of his recent runs with the 2.1 60's.

Usually I use smaller tires on my steelies, but was too lazy to swap wheels. On average the steelies give me .1-.15 seconds of advantage over the 17" wheels.

Hopefully next week I can pull some 2.0's if I use the steelies and take out the interior.

Congrats to Larrio for finally racing his car.
What the heck did you do to get that kind of 60' time?? How did you launch?? Details details, and more details!! I get 2.4 60' time =(

Well after many, many trips to the track I ditched the torque brake method of launching. Best 60' I could pull was 2.21 by torque braking.

My new method is to barely rev the engine above idle, about 800 rpm.
Hold the brakes, and floor it on the third yellow.
Launching from an even lower RPM would be better, but the ECU is using the IACV for most of the air going into the engine, therefore throttle response is pretty slow.

This will make you have slower r/t's so you'll have to relearn.

After doing some mathematical calculations I came up with an answer as to why this works better. The inertia of an accelerating engine and flex plate/TC is harder to slow down than an engine spinning at a steady rate. That's why many domestic's use auto's with a high stall TC and heavier than stock flex plate.
WoW! Thanks! But how'd you get 2.2 from using torque brake? That's VERY impressive. My friend with a rear wheel drive got 2.3!
Did you lower the PSI on your tires at all? What kind of tires are you using?

I only lower the tire pressure if I have traction problems. Lower psi= more drag. I'm running 235/45/17 Falken 451's at 34psi.
Wow, either way, very impressive!

you think torque braking in a prelude works well too?

we have tried both ways in my friends but it seems its the same. i did tell him when he goes to the track i think leaving it in drive is faster than shifting with triptronic.

nice times...esp for an auto

just wondering what other maxima's pull off for 60ft's at your track in comparison to you

because 2.1 just does not happen at ours

Jim got a 2.2 with slicks at our track N/A...

i don't see how street tires w/ 17's can outlaunch slicks with light rims

As long as tires aren't spinning, then slicks aren't needed. I can't use my steelies for much longer because I'm gonna be installing some big brakes. No more 15's or 16's.
i see...the last day i went to the track...most couldn't get into 2.2's

friend of mine with a 4th gen with ypipe (auto) easily burns right through first at our track...meaning its much less sticky than normal streets.
i guess the prep work is different from track to track...(or just non-existent at ours )

I thought I was getting scammed over a $50 stock airbox but I finally got it after 6 weeks. Good luck and I hope you get your wheels soon. SSR Comps right?
