they are pro's...but they don't have time to get used to each and every car they test

most of the people here put down better times than "pro's" that have tested maxima's

like for 1/4 mile drags or 0-60 acceleration...how much of a pro can you be? if you shift properly in good conditions you'll do well...if not then you wont...

The "pros" who do this for a "living" cannot drive it as well as an owner who drives his Maxima everyday and knows little things about it.

As I said, I matched mag times, when I had only got my Max for 7 days and had only been driving stick for 7 days. So using your logic, it doesn't take much to be a "pro"

1 month later I slaughtered the mag times, with my car still being bone stock. Steve offered excellent explanations for why that would be the case - track conditions are not only different in different parts of the country, they are different day to day on the same track.

Also, for Hondas, as he explained, they only make power on top end... VTEC rodents... Maximas have a massively good low-mid range. Around town a Maxima will own an Accord. On the highway a Civic Si with VTECH would have a better chance to beat a Maxima, due to weight. The Accord is a pig. Gen 4 Maximas are quite light and have a motor way ahead of it's time... other manufacturers motors today are still about par with what Nissan made 10 years ago.

Those redundant questions of yours were already answered earlier in this thread. The 95-96 were tad lighter but the difference is negligible. If you want every little advantage, get a 95-96. As for trim, the SE came loaded... so again a bit heavier than a bare bones GXE. This as well is negligible as long as you can drive it. Lastly, fed spec would be a bit more powerful than a cali spec. ALL 5-SPD YES!!!

Autos are not a full second slower they are about 4-6 tenths of a second slower on all cars. Car and driver did a big report on this a few years back.

I was working for Nissan back in 96 & 97 and remember the Nissan ads boasting 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. If I remember correctly it was a black 96 SE 5spd.
