98 Maxima vs 97 Eclipse

My friend has a 97 Eclipse Turbo 5 speed with an intake and a blow off valve. I have a 98 Max Auto with a intake and am getting a y-pipe. How would we match up? Saying we both got good launches and were under the same conditions. Thanks in advance.

You will get hammered, especially if you are only running on 4 cylinders.

eclipse will smoke you....will smoke you even more if he has raised the psi a little and if he has the gsx awd he'll have a lot more traction than you.

also, why do you only have 4 cylinders?

lol, everyone knows about my damn ECU problem now. I know I would get killed on the 4 cylinders, but at 6 would it be pretty close? him by a few cars maybe?

If the eclipse is a GSX(awd turbo), then he will destroy you from the launch!!! My brother pulled a 1.9 60' with his 95 gsx 3 years ago when it was bone stock not even an air filter. From a roll, he will pull you but not as much as from a stop where he can rev to 5k and dump the clutch. GS-t on the other hand is FWD turbo with the same 4g63 powerplant. If it is a gst than you might have a chance but a very slim one. From a roll the fwd is a little better cause there is less drivetrain loss.

give it a shot though, it won't hurt. Just don't do it for money cause chances are you'll get smoked! real bad!

If you were 5speed it would be a much better race. From a roll you might even pull him if you were stick. I beat my friend's 90 talon tsi awd from a roll when he only had k&n, 13psi, and a fuel pump. I would pull a car from 40-85, still pretty close. But now he has full 3" turboback exhaust, 17psi and bov. He rapes me so bad now it's sick. I don't even try any more. In 3rd at 60mph, he pulls like 3-4 cars to 100mph. It's not even a comparison. lol

In a 98 auto, you'd have a hard time beating a turbo Eclipse. They are fairly fast.

Not sure if he is GSX or GS-T. I'll find out next time i talk to him. I wish I was 5 speed though . Guess I'll just have to get more performance mods...oh well

Thanks for the info.

Yea, he gave me a ride once. He wasn't that quick until he got into 3rd, where he really could take off. 1st and 2nd for him were pretty slow, I thought. That was before he had intake though.

dunno about if they are both autos, but if they were both 5 spd's it would be neck and neck, depending on who gets a better launch.
