Here is a same day comparison of street tires, DR's and slicks with a 35 shot. Much spin with the street tires I just let it go so I was really slower than I run N/A which is a 14.6.

Street Tires = 15.1
DR's(Nitto 555's) 13.9
Slicks 13.2

Like I have told you before in another thread, slicks give you a better 60' which is essential to a low ET. A good maxima driver can pull 2.20 60' on street tires, but on slicks they could pull at least a 1.9 60'. The .2 better 60' will turn into about .4 at the end of the track. So yes, slicks help a great deal.

Not me just my car.

I use 3019 Mickey Thompson 22x8x15's, for a manual I would probably go a little bigger maybe 24"

Some people prefer M&H, I haven't tried them so I can't comment. But they are highly rated as well.

There's only about 5 people on this board that I know of that use slicks. I think most of the people who have used them have told you to get them.

Do you risk braking something with 50 shot and slicks or would you use DR's

The moderators on this site all know what they're talking about. They don't give opinions. Only facts.

But if your car doesn't truely NEED the added traction, slicks will hurt more than they help. They will be too sticky and will hurt anything after the launch.

But ALL the people that posted have a car that's capable of burning down the tires halfway down the track. For me, I can only get a few chirps out of my small light 22" OD Toyo street tires. I recently got heavier, stickier 23" OD BFG DRs and after doing several test runs with videos and stopwatches and stuff, I can see that the BFGs might actually hurt my top end. But they are definitely stickier than my Toyos. But I might not need that traction right now to run the best times I'm capable of. Slicks will be even worse for me.... until I have the power to actually spin the tires... cough ... nitrous.
