First time to the track!!

Hey I was bored So I took my baby out to the track and man I was so happy with her. I put down a 15.1 at 90.7 with a 2.260 60 ft. I have a 5spd with hai, ecu, and y-pipe. And befor you guys are saying your times should be better keep in mind that my track is at 6190 feet above sea level. My 3rd gen max ran the best of 17.4 here at this track. I drove her down to 1000 feet above and she ran 16.8 with out changing anything. Wich would put my 4th gen at mid 14's wich is right on par right? And the run today it was 75 degres outside and I had 3\4 of a tank because I was'nt planing on runing till today, and I have bald *** dry rotted street tires. They will be the first things to go. I'm pretty sure with some practice I'll hit 14's even at my killer *** elevation. Oh and I smoked a 02 gt mustang with cat backs and intake, I beat a wrx with just a muffler, and smoked and older camaro, and a dumb cavy. No loses for me today. Tell me what you guys think{espicaly you cesar} Thanks guys

That is a decent time considering your elevation... you have to include that. I noticed that you have a JWT ECU without a MEVI. What are your shift points? If you are shifting at redline (7000 or 7200) then you might want to consider the USM optimal shift points and you should be pretty close to breaking into the 14s.

Good job otherwise!

Hey no man I never rev it up that high becuase there's no power for me up there. I should be getting the mevi in two weeks. I found a local guy selling one for 500 with everything and he'll put it in. I shift a 6k. What do you think my car would run at the track that's 1000 feet above with better tires. It's 5200 feet lower than this track. Thanks man

There are too many variables to determine the answer to that question precisely. I will assume that you have 185whp at sea level, if you dynoed now. Then using this formula, you should be able to estimate hp loss with elevation:

bhp loss = elevation in feet / 1000 x 0.03 x bhp at sea level

So you whp loss at 6200ft is about 34whp. That would account for APPROX. 0.3 sec in your ET (so at sea level you would run about 14.7 - 14.8 right now). At 1000ft above sea level, the hp loss is negligible (about 5whp) so I would say that you could run about 14.8 right now at 1000ft elevation.

This is all "quick-and-dirty" math. There are too many factors to really bet on it, like humidity, temperature, etc. But I think that it should be pretty accurate.

According to the NHRA correction factors for elevation (http://www.smokemup.com/auto_math/nh...on_factors.php), about every 1200 feet is good for about .18 and 1.3mph. I'm uncertain of the track he ran at in NM because the only track I know of in the NM area is Albuquerque National Dragway which is at ~5300' yet he's saying 6200'. Regardless, if I correct his 15.1@91mph to sea level, his car technically could be good for 14.1@97mph. Keep in mind these are only calculations and don't guarentee he would run a 14.1 because some tracks are simply quicker/slower than others due to timing equipment, grade, conditions, etc, etc. Realistically, I'd estimate his car is good for 14.2-14.4@95-97mph on a good sea level track.

Hey dave yeah man the track I ran is albuquerque national drag way or whatever. But somebody told me it's higher but I believe you. But either way man it's to high. I'm going to buy an extra couple of saw blades from a buddy and a couple of bfg g force drag radials for next time I run. I'm almost positive I'll hit at least 14.9 even at **** *** elevation. Going over my time slip can you tell any short comings I had in any area's and what should I do to hit that lovely 14 ?? Thank you guys so much. I'm so adicted to this. I have run that I made and I'm converting it from tape to digital and I'll post them for you guys to check out. Thanks agin for the tips guys

I'd say you're driving pretty darn well considering the high elevation.
