Hey, how would you describe your launch style?
Do you rev to around your ideal launch point and once its "on" (e.g. last yellow light) do you just DROP the clutch... or do you modulate it more than that?
Thanks- While you are at it, if you want to get detailed include the following:
what is your:
tire brand
tire size,
tire PSI,
clutch brand
flywheel weight
Target RPM for either dropping the hammer- or modulation
Queue for dropping/ starting the modulation
I think thats about it for the informational points that describe the 1/4.... let me know if I missed any!
Regards-

Tire brand/size: 215/60R15 Sumitomo HTR H-rated
PSI: 24-30 psi
Clutch: stock, 105K miles
Flywheel: stock
Launch rpm: 3500-4000rpms
Queue for launch: On the second amber I lift up on the clutch to get rolling and begin to feed the gas. The initial roll seems to take away the massive spin associated with simply dumping the clutch. My goal is to stay above 3000rpms coming off the line. I never go WOT in 1st because spin/wheelhop are too dramatic. This launch technique usually results in mid to lower 2.2 60 foots. I've tried launching at lower rpms (1500-2000rpms) and the launch is less dramtic and I get the same 60 foots, but my ET/MPH aren't as good as launching at 4000rpms.

The guys who get the best 60' times on this site, like 2.15 and under, all launch at about 1500rpm. I have never perfected that launch but I'm going to give it another shot or two before I start selling parts off my car.
Tire brand: doesnt matter, street tires are street tires. i have done the same times on all different tires
Tire size: same as above
Tire psi: usually around 32. I don't mess with it.
clutch stock
flywheel stock
2500 rpm modulation, almost drop
best 60' with this info is 2.17. 2.20 is typical, 2.25 is on the high end of things.

What's an approx difference in ET/MPH between techniques? I've been doing the 1500-2000 technique and getting sub 2.2's but my MPH is speed challenged (sucks)Originally Posted by Dave B

Why are you selling parts from your car?Originally Posted by Nealoc187

Really crappy, salvaged 205/60 15's
25ish psi
stock cluthc
findanza flywheel
Low RPM launch, 1800ish. Get rolling for a split sec then 90% throttle for another split sec, then WOT. I think that's how I do it. It happens so fast, I just know that don't just go WOT from the light. I slip the clutch just a tad as well
........$hit. actually, I don't exactly what I do
. I just know I launch at a low rpm and just go with it. It's given me a best 2.14 and many other 2.1's. I probably had half a dozen trips to the track launching at 2500-3000 and always got high 2.2's. Then one day just gave the low rpm thing a try and started pulling 2.1's.
I wouldn't listen to what Dave says though. If his local track is anything like the one I was at a couple weeks ago your just SOL.

Tire brand/size: 225/50/16 Toyo Proxes T1-S
PSI: 25 psi
Clutch: stock, 151K miles
Flywheel: stock
Launch rpm: 2500 - 3000 rpms
Best 60 : 2.12
Queue for launch: Never take my eyes off third yellow, as soon as it lights up, im on it. Most of the time my rpms are stuck on 2500 ( like dave said sometimes things are so fast you do the best you can given the time ) At launch im all the way into it and will only do clutch work if i get into trouble. I always spin the tires before staging (dirt, rocks, water, etc.)
