...um as a general rule, a perfect r/t is .5 unless i am mistaken... I havent been to many tracks, but maybe your track is a 00 is a perfect time and anything less is a redlight. but if it was the norm of a .5 r/t being perfect, then you both would have redlighted...

VERY nice Matt. As much as I bracket race, I still haven't gotten a perfect light. I've gotten several .499 and .501s, but no .500 yet.

They are nice. I had 22" OD Toyo T1-S tires before. They almost would grip as well as the Gforce DRs. BUT, when you heat up the DRs, HOLY CRAP, they start gripping!!!

I've heard from several people that have Gforce DRs, they don't start working until they are heated up slightly. So you might have to do a little tiny burnout until you see light smoke. That usually takes 3 seconds. Anything more than 3 seconds is a John Force burnout.

What size DRs did you get? I have the 205/50R15 (23"), which is the best gearing I can get without doing Toyos or MT slicks (22"). Remember, my auto doesn't have any low end power. VE Autos aren't known to be 60' killers.

But I was getting 2.21s with a slight chirp all day. I decided to do a burnout and it only lasted 1 second until I couldn't possibly burnout anymore. The tires got sticky and it pulled me out of the water box. I lined up and pulled a 2.17 and my best ET of the day. I still have stock suspension too, so my front end would rise a LOT on the launch.

If you have a good suspension, heated Gforce DRs, then you should be ok. You should be getting atleast 2.1 60's. Good luck!

2.21 isn't bad on crappy tires. Suspension helps a lot on street tires. What's your best 1/4 mile time so far? I looked at your webpage, but I dunno how modded you are. Depending on how modded you are, 2.0s are very possible.

I started with 30 psi. I drove on the street alittle with that. They still chirped a few times on a hard launch. I lowered it to 22psi, they still chirped a few times on the street. Didn't appear to make a big difference. But the tires were squatting an aweful lot at 22psi.

For the track, I started with 22psi. I didn't do any burnouts all day. I got 2.21 - 2.23s all day. After those 3 runs, I started to think... "hmm, I'm still chirping the tires, there is room for improvement".

So I lower the tire pressure to 18psi and then tried to do a burnout. I couldn't burnout! haha VE low end sucks. But I assume I didn't have enough water on my tires. I did a 2.27 60' and spun worse than ever. My tires were obviously wet.

My next attempt, I spun the tires this time, but I instantly hit rev limiter and let off. I've never done a burnout before in my automatic. I got a 2.20 with a chirp, my PB.

Then I circled aorund and made another hot lap, I did a better burnout this time and my tires got sticky. I launched with no chirping at all at 18psi and got 2.17. I was happy with that run.

before my suspension upgade and going back on the bottle my best Is a 9.48 with a 2.23@ I can't remember(1/8 mi.). The closest 1/4 mi. track is about 1.5 hrs away. lol
at that time I had a y-pipe, and an intake and a clutch with 150,000mi. begging for mercy.
Now I have y,injen,cat-back, udp,nx wet kit currently jetted for 50, illuminas, tein htechs, ES full front bushings, rsb, centerforce clutch.

So your best 1/8 mile time was 9.48 all motor? That's pretty good with minimal mods. A 9.48 is around 14.7s or 14.8s in the 1/4 mile. With all those extra mods you have, I bet you can do 14.3s if you have the same track and weather conditions as when you did 9.48. Now add in that 2.0 that you are highly capable of getting, 14.0s are possible all motor. But the weather is warming up, so I would be happy with 14.2s all motor with a 2.0 60'. Add in the 50 shot and you will have severe traction issues. You need slicks.

as far as traction goes, I don't spray in first, but with the AS tires I break traction really bad in second and chirp them in third. I'm hoping the drag radials will take care of the traction in second and third though.

You might be able to spray in 1st with the drag radials. If not, then it will definitely help 2nd an AWEFUL lot. Just don't expect them to be as great as slicks and solve all your traction issues. But you HAVE to heat them up a little bit to get them to their full capabilities. BFG says don't lower your pressure below 12psi. I am assuming you have 225/50R15 Gforces? I wouldn't lower pressure lower than 18psi b/c you do have a heavy car. In a light Civic, you can easily go down to 12psi. Just make sure you heat them up and you should have MUCH better traction than with the AS tires.

i actually got the 205/50 15 gforces. I really doubt I'll be able to productively spray in 1st, but I am just hoping to help the traction issue, not solve it. I'll solve it once I blow this tranny and get some slicks . I don't think my tranny can handle the slicks right now.

Why did you choose that size DR? Wouldn't you be better of sticking with a tire that is close to your stock gearing, like 25" OD. Well, now that I think about it, with your nitrous, you are going to have to shift into 4th gear anyway. For you, you want to be finishing the 1/4 mile revving around 5500-6000 in 4th gear. That would be best for you. A 23" might be best for you as far as gearing is concerned. But as far as traction, it might not be the best size.

Exactly. I'm sure they will be easy to sell locally b/c almost all the import Honda guys use that size DR. I was going to sell my Toyo 195/45R15 tires and I got several local inquiries about them. 22 or 23" OD 15" tires are easy to sell b/c there are so many Civics using them.

I would recommend driving them on the street for 20 or so miles. It will help break them in before you hit the track. Brand new tires don't grip as well as broken in, heated up tires.

But if you do some good burnouts at the track, they should be broken in enough.
