Track Times

Well, I went to the track today and hit a new personal best, but not quite what I was hoping for.

Time slip:

R/T - .585
60' - 2.293
1/8 - 9.672 @ 72.58 mph
1/4 - 15.082 @ 90.73 mph

The temperature was around 40 degrees, and there was a constant wind from the side. Elevation is ~740ft. I was running with my cobra wheels and Kumho Ecsta MX tires with ~23psi, on which I did a quick burnout, but not in the waterbox. I also stripped my trunk.

Power Mods:
- K&N cone filter (HAI)
- ported/polished TB w/matched manifold
- full exhaust
- UDP
- Fidanza flywheel, kevlar clutch

I was really hoping for 14's today, but next time maybe I'll try my stock wheels. Then again, I could just spring for slicks this summer...

Anyone have any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

I'm too much of a wus to juice it myself, but this would probably be the easiest way to go. No I don't speak from experience, but I know of a 5th gen Auto with a 50 shot running close to 14 flats with a 100+ trap speed. Your motor is still relatively new, who knows with a safe 35 shot with some mobil 1 or royal purple motor oil, you could fetch a few 14 second timeslips ...

Good times Brad. Keep working the launch, it's pretty crucial to get out of the hole real good, and you having a stick can modulate and be creative, as opposed to the Auto guys who can stand on the brake, real creativity there huh?

It's too bad you won't be able to join us at Byron on the 17th. Don't sweat it though, when things come up, what are you gonna do right? Maybe next time my friend!

Fernando.

I've considered this, but it would be pretty expensive, becuase I would be wanting to spray it on the street! But yeah, there is a whole season ahead to practice. Thanks for the comments. Next time you are having a meet, let me know, and I'll be there!

Brad you are right on the line, with your car that is a great time and not too many are quicker that I have seen with the exception of Aaron and he is a diehard.

Stick with the N/A and keep trying with cheap mods and you will reach your goal.

Slicks are the BEST. You will definately reach 14's with them, I think. Aaron is the best guy to ask about the 3rd Gen though because he says he doesn't get much wheelspin and therefore slicks would not be that great an asset.
