How much should I ...

How much should I expect to do in the 1/4 mile times if I install the MEVI considering my previous times:

1. stock I did 16.2 @ 85 mph
2. with Y-pipe, b-pipe, straight pipe, Pop Charger & JWT ECU I did 15.6 @ 89 mph

Also consider that I have an auto tranny and that stock my 60's were 2.4's and now with the added torque of the mods it's doing 2.5's in the 60. I assume that because of the slight reduction in performance in the low rpms by the MEVi my 60's should improve as well as my 1/4 mile time. RIght?

1. You have 2.5 60' because you need practice driving, not because of too much power. The mevi won't help you 60'. Practice launching will.

2. assuming you pull the same 60' with the MEVI, you will run just about the same times with maybe a tad better trap speed.

1. It's can't be that I need pratcice driving because as I said before I did 2.4's when it was stock on every run. Now launching the car in the same manner as I did that OTHER night in which I always pulled 2.4's it throws 2.5's.

2. Isn't the MEVI supposed to imrove my 1/4 mile time?

ok, well maybe you dont need practice driving max_pr, but you might need some work on the launch (i dont know squat about an auto launch). if you have only been a few times, then as you keep going back this should improve alot.

mike is right on the 60's , this is going to rely more on you, traction, launch versus the mevi. Now I dont know much about the MEVI either, but the MEVI should start earning its keep approaching the 1/8th to 1/4 mile concerning your times.

Good luck man, I would like to see you hit a 14.9 .

No, you do need practice launching because an auto max with a driver who knows what they are doing should be able to get 2.2x 60' or even 2.1x. This is regardless of mods.Your idea that your seeing horrible 60' foot times because your mods added power is incorrect. It's because your not good at launching your car. It's nothing personal, it just takes practice.

you can't duplicate lauches perfectly, especially on different days. There is just too many different factors that you can't control. ie; track prep, temperature...

An MEVI (with out an extended redline) is not ment to see gains in the 1/4 mile. The benefits come at highway speeds, 60+mph. The MEVI will cause a loss of around 10lbs, maybe even 15lbs of mid-range torque. Low/mid-range torque is essential for a low ET. So even though an MEVI can gain 20hp+ above 6K rpms the loss of mid-range torque negates the gains...as far as running the 1/4 mile is concerned. A max with an MEVI will enjoy the gains in racing from roll not a stand still.

So, go practice your launch and if your only concern as far as speed is to run low 1/4 mile times then don't get an MEVI (unless you plan on gettting the redline extended). If you enjoy highway power and a more refined power band then get the MEVI.

I already have the redline extended to 7.2k rpms with the JWT ECU.

but my main concern is my runng on the road not really con the 1/4 mile.

Thanks for all your opinions though, I'll see if I can improve my launch

Oh, well that makes all the difference in the world. With your JWT ECU and VI you should see about .3 and 3mph gain.
