First time at the Track w/my 5spd
I finally decided to go to the 1/4 mile track with my 97 Maxima GXE 5spd for my first time. Overall, I am happy with my times, although I do need to still work on my 60 ft. and RT. These times are with a Stillen intake, a Budget y-pipe, and a Technosquare ECU, with codes 0303 and 0304 (I really need to get these codes fixed). I left everything in the car (spare, seats, etc.). The worst part is that the track is 5000 ft. above sea level. Here is how I did on my best run:
Reaction: I can't really read what the first number is but it is either a .771, a .171, or a .271. Oh well. It mostly looks like it could be a .771
60 FT. : 2.300
660 FT. : 9.996
E.T. : 15.585
MPH : 88.842
Another one of my runs had the following:
Reaction: .178
60 FT. : 2.768 (pretty bad really)
660 FT. : 10.686
E.T. : 16.273
MPH : 88.937
I don't know, do you think I can get my car into the low 15's after fixing the codes and practicing the Reaction and 60 FT. times? The altitude probably kills my times as well.

hey you did really good...im in co the track i run at is @ 5000ft so i know what you mean...definately get that knock sensor fixed you should be able to run low 15's easily...good job...oh knock sensor codes and o2 sensor codes seem to go hand and hand check a fuse first for the o2 sensor, i thought i needed new sensors after i installed my y pipe turns out i was just a fuse.

good going, man your 2.7 60 foot (lol) reminds me of my first time at the track... i flew through the water, popped the clutch and STORMED off to nowhere while smoking my tires like crazy, the max then slowly pulled forward, i jammed it into second and continued down the track with a trail of smoke behind me, i probably did the 1/8th in 14 seconds...and then struggled through the 1/4 mile.
i dont think i have ever mentioned the time, but i still remember thinking WOW that was awesome ! LOL !
the thing about the 60 foot is that its the part that will take some practice and experience, your 2.30 is a hair off from the 2.2's so you are starting to cook.
Im not sure how to calculate the elevation factor but your doing ok, you will do much better with some experience under your belt and the ks replaced .. go kick some tail and congrats on the run !

Thank you guys for the replies. Yeah, I will definitely be going to the track some more this summer. I never realized how much fun it is to race there and even just watch others race. I will fix the codes and I will work on those 60's. Thank you again guys.
