Ran Maxima at Track tonight

took my 1999 Maxima SE-L up to the track today see how she would do.
mods are as followed.
Warpseed Y pipe
Catco HIflow Cat
JWT popcharger
Grounding Kit
when i ran i had about 1/2 tank of gas with some octane booster, i also removed spare tire and jack.

My best run was my second run
15.129@93.12MPH. my 60 foot time was 2.339

here is a copy of the time slip
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/633706

here is a pic of the car after it was said and done
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...6.jpg.orig.jpg

My best run was my second after that i ran consistent 15.4's with 2.5 60 foot times. i ran about 15 runs altogether all of which my 60 foot exceeded 2.5 seconds

that do you guys think
car has 102000miles

get a cardomain account and put em on there, imagestation sucks and cardomain is really easy and free.

i did in your other thread but we need more info on the track and the weather conditions. you can get in the 14s easily with the amoutn of power you are making, 14.8s are not unreasonable to expect, 14.7s are even possible if you really get a great launch.

Next time try shifting into 4th at about 6000 on a few runs and compare that to how well you do staying in 3rd. Some people like shifting into 4th better and some people like to ride out 3rd. I always shifted into 4th.

Practice those launches... 2.5 second 60 ft is slow. You should be able to get around 2.25 N/A on street tires. I also always shift into fourth. I don't think locking out O/D helps at al. It is more of a mind thing. Also octane booster doesn't help very much, and sometimes hurts unless you are boosted or spraying. Your car is set up with oxygen sensors, and MAF sensor. It takes a hundred miles or so for them to realize a significant change in octane to change the computer to run that type of gas. If you always put 91 octane in your car, It will get used to it. If you always run 94 octane, it will get used to that too. The only time that I saw a gain from adding race fuel was when I started using nitrous. The best thing to do is to try different things, and see what works for you. Remember those "up to 25 extra HP" claims are for running a bottle of octane boost with about 5 gallons of 94 octane gas in a 900HP boosted car on the dyno. They are a waste of money.

what should me improved to improve the 60ft times, should i improve my reaction times or should i try improving my RT. is there anything i can do to the car to make it launch better?
in another note i also see your running nos? how often do you use it? i am thinking of getting a kit

RT and reaction time are the same thing and have nothing to do with your 60' time. your 60' time is a measure of your ability to launch your car in the quickest possible manner, and no one can tell you how to do it. you have to practice.

I abuse, I mean I use the nitrous all the time. I use about two bottles a month. With your car, I can't give you all the pointers you need to make your car launch better. Mine is auto, and I have my own style. You need to get some help from a fast 5-speed guy. Nitrous is awesome, and makes your car immediately credible against anything on the street. The thing I would recommend is waiting on juice until you can drive the car a little better. I'm not saying that you can't drive, but if you can't harness all the power that you have now, you certainly won't be able to keep wheel spin, and other issues to a minimum with out practice. The 1/4 mile is decided in the first 200 feet, and once you have that down....everything else is a piece of cake.

i launch at 2k rpm and still get shizzo 60'.

R/T .658
60' 2.286 <-Thats my best 60' out of 20 or so runs.
330 6.430
1/8 9.878@70.95
1000 12.851
1/4 15.358@89.35 <-staying in 3rd with intake/muffler & eibachs/agx

My best slip is

R/T .561
60' 2.453
330 6.558
1/8 9.932@72.60
1000 12.832
1/4 15.282@91.54 <-same mods as above but shifting into 4th

Judging by your slip you should shift into 4th, and just work on that launch. Thats all really.

to be honest with you i wasn't even paying attention to what RPM i was launching at, i kept rolling forward during staging and because of it i would red light. i relighted 3 times. i ran about 15 runs never shifted outta 3rd i redlined 3rd on every run. she took a beating that day, 15 runs back to back. my first was a 15.299 with a 2.4 or so 60 ft, my best was the 15.1 slip i posted. after that my 60 ft tmes ranged anywhere from 2.4-2.5 and i ran consistant 15.4 quatemile times, all my traps were 92mph for the 15.4's i never even thought to shift in to 4th on any of the runs next time i will

my best slip is and this was on my second run
R/T 1.233
60' 2.339 <----Best 60 foot
330 6.429
1/8 9.819
MPH 72.77
1000 12.706
1/4 15.129 <----Best 1/4 Mile time
MPH 93.12 <----Fastest trap speed this was in 3rd gear

i am confident if i can lover my 60ft time i can break into the 14's. i think i will probally head up for my birthday 7/16 if you wanna meet up there let me know. i have since acquired a greddy SP exhaust so i am hoping this will help me in getting closer to 14's

i will race ya. i can't do burn outs like you can or do 180s but i think i can hold you on the strip...
