i am just curious what does it mean when you have a high trap speed but slow 1/4 mile time. on some of my runs i had 92mph trap speed but 15.4 quatermile times. my best run was 15.1 with 93mph trap speed. how could 1 mph differ so much in time

low trap speed and quicker times = traction if its the same day. If its different days weather conditions play a factor.

high trap speed and a slow time means a bad launch.

the 60ft times were 2.4-2.5 sec's and those all resulted in 15.4XXX time slips with 92.XXmph. so this just means i have a bad launch and the car isn't slow?

Yea those 60 fts are pretty bad. Work on your launches and I bet you could do alot better at the track.

Every tenth you drop from your 60' time usually takes 2 tenths off your 1/4 time, provided the rest of the run goes well.

hmmm, if your theory is right, If i were able to drop my 2.49 60ft to a 2.25, that would drop me about 5 tenths in the 1/4 mile. Oh your right, next time at the track i should be in the mid 13's.

I tend to get better 60's when I bog on the launch, but it gives me a crappier 1/4 ET. But yeah usually 60' times have a large effect on your 1/4 ETs. His estimate is pretty damn close.

Yeah, I noticed when I ran 2.43 60', I ran 14.06 idling off the line but a 13.83 w/a 2.34 60' w/ a 1500rpm brake/throttle.

Car was trapping 105mph on both runs. W/ a 2.0 60', I think I could get low 13/high 12.

Back when the car was S/C, I dropped the car into neutral on one run at the 1000' and pulled a 15.6@82mph. The car is moving so fast in the top end a few mph won't make much difference in the ET.

Generally if a car's trap speed is much higher than average for its ET, the car isn't getting any traction. It's why FWD Civics pull 180+mph run times slower than street tire Supras.
