Where's this 9 second Maxima I've been hearing about?

Some people have told me there is a 9 second Maxima owner here. Not sure on what generation it was either. There is that video of the 5th gen Maxima taking on a Trans Am(at the track), and that's quite impressive. Anyway, is there a link or picture of the timeslip?

9-sec 1/8 maybe, not 1/4......

You're thinking about Jime- he had a 4th gen for a while and is now rockin a 2k2 auto, and is using plenty of nitrous. I think his best time with the 2k2 has been like 12.4 or so....but not sure. Certainly not near 9 seconds...

I have no clue what you are talking about unless you are talking about the guy with the 1st gen RWD max which is either in the 10s or 9s that I've heard rumors of... but that isn't something that is commonly mentioned on here because not many people know about it. The quickest commonly known maxima on this board and in most people's eyes is MardiGrasMax's 11.9 second run...

Hmm, okay, thanks for clearing that up. I should slap the people that told me about a 9 second Maxima.

Neal, I don't think he's talking about that guy. I've heard rumors about it but never seen any documentation..... I'm pretty sure Jime had a video of his 5th gen against a Trans Am at the track.

yeah when i made that post i wasn't thinking of the video he mentioned, simply the approximate time he mentioned. the video definately sounds like the jime vs trans am video, but of course that's nowhere near a 9 second pass. it was like 12.3 @ 113 or so. i believe jime's best to be 12.1, that's the best I know of from him and he's always been very open about what he's run.

Yeah I saw that video. That was an awesome launch, you gotta have ***** to launch at the RPM's he did.

The people that told me probably mis-read it to be the 1/4 mile, but is actually the 1/8th. Oh well. They were also telling me the guy has a Cardomain account.

They had one in The Fast and The Furious, after the 150 shot. If Vin Diesel says it's true, it's true.

actually, the one in the fast and the furious needed "minor tuning" to get into the 9's.....remember, always check the coaxial valve displacement on the right lower control cylindrical solenoid plate. That's where the real HP is. That and stickers.

It the 7's that requires a little more traction and power.

Jime, you HAVE to tell me how to launch an auto.

I kept getting 2.3 60's all day. I did have to go through water, but still. Power braking does not help at all.

I have no magic solution but here is what I do and the result.

1. Torque to just above idle approx 1000 RPM and hit it on the 3rd amber. (Thats it for street tires N/A or slicks N/A or slicks and nitrous)

2. Street tires I can manage a best 2.2, N/A and Slicks 2.0, Slicks and spray (50 shot) 1.75.

Doesn't require any practice or skill like you need with a manual. (Thats why I race an auto, it Jime proof )

Autos are great. no driver error, and like you said, Jime proof I've managed 2.15 on street tires, but normally can only get 2.2's as well.

Probably by knowing how to drive. Same way people shave .4 seconds from what the magazines say these cars run.

That would depend on whether you can drive or not.
