With your mods listed, you should definitely be trapping in the 96-99mph range. As mentioned before, there's no way the 3rd gen is trapping any higher than 93mph.

ok...

Lets say, worst case scenario, your car is trapping 96mph and his car is trapping 93mph. Thats 3mph difference!! You said you did a 3rd gear pull and only walked him barely right? ( by the way - - from what mph/rpm did you start at?)

You should "more than walk" on him if you have a 3mph difference in trap speeds. You should have pulled at least 2 car lengths if your car was trapping 96mph+.



oh and it would really help if you described what "barely walking him" means. What would you say the distance was between your car and his at the end of the race?

I have a similar problem and am kinda worried.

I have a 96 SE 5speed with just intake and ypipe. I did a 3rd gear pull with my friend who also has a 96 SE 5speed but the only mods he has done is a Stillen Catback and a Stillen pop charder. He has the stock ypipe!

So from 3rd gear, 60mph......

He pulls 1car length on me by the end of 3rd gear, 95mph!!!!

I don't understand how thats possible if he doesn't even have a ypipe. the catback should make that big of a difference. I have the ypipe over him!

well....we started at 4K rpm's in 3rd gear so whatever speed that translates into...and went to redline....it was hard to tell...but initially, it was dead even but by the end of 3rd....I prolly got at the most a car length....

 

yeah...I didn't feel any difference from my y pipe...and I got it put on with a high flow cat and cat-back exhaust...so i definitely should have felt a difference....when I put my intake and ecu on seperately, they felt they gave more individually which is really weird....but that's prolly b/c those add peaky power whereas the y pipe adds power everywhere....i dunno....like I have b4....when we were both stock I used to walk on him pretty good....now barely at all (after all my mods!!!)...and my mevi is opening fer sher I checked it out the other day...like I have said countless times already the only way to know if there is something wrong is dyno....but I don't have the money or time right now for that!

 

I love hearing all this "I should be doing this..I should be doing that" crap.....all because you've modded the car. I think most of the time, beaters with no mods have the advantage because their owners don't give a **** and beat the hell out of their cars....the beaters are used to the abuse. They will perform in a wide range of situations and environmental conditions. The modded cars are just as **** as the owners i think. If the situations are not perfect..they don't perform. That's just my theory. Maybe I'm just off my rocker cause it's 4:30 in the morning and I'm just tired and losing my sanity lol.

 

odd? this is a mystery. his car is not putting "190hp amd 190tq" he is putting down 200whp. something is up here. your bother has nos and he isn't telling you lol. Mike you car should be good for low 14's high 13's

 

If he's putting down that power, yes, but even with all those mods a bad k.s. will kill your performance.
If he dynoe'd real recent and puts down anywhere near 200fwhp, this is not right.

 

There's no way he was putting down close to that at the time of this race if the details of the race were accurate. Pure and simple. 190whp and 190tq is about average for a car with his mods so don't nitpick when I'm trying to provide the guy with information.

 

i know i know , i am just as confused as everyone else. too bad he couldn't have a rematch.

 

I say just save some $$ and get to the dyno asap. Then make sure you post up your numbers here so we all know.
