Drag radial question

I have BFG Drag radials (225/50/15) mounted on my millenia wheels now. I will be going to the track for the first time on these, so I have a few question. What tire psi should I try first 20ish? Also should I do a burn out with these or should I miss the water box? THanks for the help.

*I have a 98 five speed w/Supercharger

I have been going with 13psi in my DR's. I have not played around with the air pressure too much. I did try going lower than that on my last couple runs but my 60' go worse....but that was partly due to the temps.

I suggest heating them up. Without a burnout I pull 2.1-2.15 pretty easily with a 4K clutch drop.......still lost of spin so I know gettting them hot could yield me 2.0's no problem.

DR's are street legal....so if I need to drive on them I can...and I dont think I am in the position to possibly replace every thing that could possibly break with a dead hook...but I guess the bottom line is I am a wuss

-Thanks for the advise mike....I will try heating them up and see how they do. I have tested them out and I am still spinning really hard in first and going into second....but then again that with a cold tire and 30 psi in them.

-I think I will probably try ~20 psi then move down from there....

*any more advise will be appreciated

-Carson

Cardana,

I am by far no expert but I used radials for one run at MIR last time i went.

My SCer wasn't running at the time and I dropped the clutch @ about 3.5k to 4K and they did not hook up!

I had a terrible 2.6s 60 ft. I only got one run with them and was very dissappointed.

My point is since you are going to MIR on sunday which means you may not get many runs I would do a normal street launch to start off....

I did a burn out before running, but it may not have been enough to warm them up. If I spun through first while N/A, it is more than likely it will be worse with the SCer!

Let me know how it turns out.

I don't think your making enough power yet to be breaking things on a dead hook. Mardigras Launches at 5000rpm and hasn't broken anything yet because of his launch

you need to re-read my last point Also Mardigras from stories I hear is a pretty hard core drag racer....I want a fast show car. If I want to do slicks in the future I am sure I will have no problem selling the DR's...so right now I am just trying the DR's and they feel nice....I def. need to heat them up some though...I have been riding on them for a few days just getting some bugs worked out and I am spinning pretty hard going into 3rd (not used to that on 19's)....the car feels good right now, hopefully I can dodge the rain and see what it will do this weekend.....goodluck to you on firday....put some times down that should have been putting down for a while so I can stop giving you a hard time

-also I'm PMing you

A FAST SHOW CAR is an oxymoron.

I don't make much power either but I have snapped two axles at the track on some hard launches.
