4th Gens if you are in the 14s and NA please post.

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread that would help compare the diffrent "setups" that some of the 4th gen 14 second Maxima's are running. i know there is a moderated timeslip forum but that informations is too chaotic when it comes to compaing apples to apples. So my porposition is if your 4th gen Maxima Runs below a 15.0 in the 1/4 mile please post your setup and your best timeslip. I feel as this would be a good idea and could help explain some stuff to the noobs as well as some of the guys on here for a while. This will also be a current list of the members who are still active and run 14's.

Well i guess i can start this off
JWT Popcharger
Warpspeed Y pipe
HyperGround System
Catco Highflow Cat
Greddy SP Catback
B&M Short Throw Shifter
Mobile 1 5W30 Motor Oil
Redline MT90 Gear Oil

honestly, 14s is pretty easy on a 4th gen. there's this many 3rd gens as well that are in the 14s.. Not to take away from you guys or anything, but more reasonable accomplishment would be a 14.4 or below on a 4th gen.

14 second timeslips have probably been had by 85% of the 4th gens who have ever drag raced I'm willing to bet. Lots of guys run 14s with nothing done to the car whatsoever.

Probally true but i think it might still be an idea to have everyone who wants to post post. I personally would like to see how other people have accomplished this and what setups they have been using.

This is rediculous. Every single 4th gen should be able to run at least 14.9 with a properl maintained stock car in reasonable conditions.

Unless they are auto... Even there you can't just go to the track and hit 14.9 bone stock the very first time. I mean, once people start going to the track more often they are modded most of the time, instead of practicing stock.

Let's see... how many 95-99 guys ran 14.999 and lower bone stock the very first time they went to the track. Neal? Who else?

Well I could have gotten 14.9 if I hadn't messed up the final 1/8 mile. 2.30 60' got me 15.00 and 2.26 60' got me 15.07. So I guess that would've been 14.9xx but I'm still officially in the 15-second club (15.003). Stock, by the way. The very first time it was 15.09 on a good day. I know Neal got 14.87 and the record for a stock 4th gen still stands at 14.7xx.

I did it in 2 other people's stock cars also, BriGuyMax ran 14s stock too, someone else who's name I think is Kingmax ran 14.6 with just a jwt pop charger so I know he could have run 14s stock though I don't know if he ever did, someone else ran in the 14.7s besides VeeTec I remember that from a while back. Even RussMaxManiac ran 14.8 stock but he had a 2000. Any car trapping 91 or higher should be running 14s stock with a good launch and quick shifts.

Ah. No burnout and dumped the clutch at 1.5k (granny I know), redlined first, 6400 in second and 6200 final shift. Was trapping consistant 91 (and one 92 on the 15.07 run). All 2.3 60' except the 2.26 one. Is my launch hurting me that bad?

Yeah it's your launch. You need to pull something in the 2.18 range to get into the 14s on a 91mph trap speed. 92mph should get you into the 14s with like a 2.22-2.24 60' as you saw you almost made it. Also you should probably be shifting earlier. Try shifting at redline, 6300 and 6000. Also, honestly guage your shifts, if you don't think you are a very fast shifter, it might be more beneficial to ride out 3rd instead of shifting to 4th since a slow shift means more time off the throttle, which means less time acceleration down the 1/4 mile. But I don't think your shifts are a problem, just a little better 60' would have you in 14.9s.

sad thing is we are not all great drivers. my first time at the track my best was a 15.1 with 2.3 60ft and a 93mph trap speed. at this poin i had popcharger and y pipe. i insatlled an exhaust and broke into 14's

Dispite some of our cars have the ability to run 14's not many of them do

97 Auto
1st run 14.931@91.36 - 2.232 60'
2nd run 14.970@91.40 - 2.240 60'
Homemade intake
Budget Ypipe
OBX Muffler
Mobil 1 engine and ATF
Took out spare, backseat and passenger seat.
Ambient temp - Mid to high 50's.
Engine temp - halfway to normal engine temp

Brake torqued at the line and feathered the launch then gunned it when I felt the tires grip. Both were done on the same day.

I ran in the 14s a long time ago. This is what I had when I finally busted in the 14s for the first time. This was taken from the Moderated Timeslips section:

-----------------------

My mods are:

Custom Ram Air Intake
WSP Ypipe
ASP UDP
Advanced Timing to 20* BTDC
Removed AC Belt
WSP Testpipe
Maximum Tuning Valve Body
Removed seats and gutted trunk

Oh yeah, here is my full timeslip from my best run:

60' 2.3400
330' 6.3698
1/8 9.6696@74.83mph
1000' 12.5091
1/4 14.9374@92.61mph

---------------------

It doesn't take a lot to get in the 14s. Even if you are a 3rd gen or an automatic.. or BOTH, like me. You just have to do the right things and know what you're doing. Since then, I have done a LOT more to my car. My website shows it all.

Yeah, shifts are quick. I should've tried launching harder. But I'll never be able to try it again stock. Season ended and it will be FAR from stock at the end of the winter.

14.6@94mph

S&B Popcharger filter
Unknown midpipe
SR Headers
SR Ypipe
Unknown testpipe
HP Racing muffler
B&M short shifter

Mods that don't contribute that much...
Eibach springs
17" Finn Racing rims (around same weight as stock 16s)
235/45-17s

More practice and I'll have 14.5-14.4 easy. The 14.6 time was in the same night with 3 runs...shifting into 4th.
