Sabb 9-3 vs 2004 Maxima SE?

Hey guys,

I have a friend that has a 2003 Sabb 9-3 with turbo and we where comparing performance test as far as speed goes and it seems the 0-60 is pretty close on both (like 6.8 seconds...we where looking on Edmunds.com). Now his car has 210 HP but he has turbo and we where considering taking our cars to the track to see how they will perform. You think it will be a close race or will I end up smoking him?

he might take u off the line or even keep up with you, since the turbos peak torque is at a relatively LOW RPM... but 210hp is no match for ya in higher speeds, as you will steady pull away...

u should be able to consistently get under 15.0s if your 60ft is not worse than 2.35

while his is more of a low 15sec car on average...

here's an idea of what an auto max runs!

and what a saab runs!

Dont trust magazine numbers. Theres 6th gens that have beat those times by a good margin.

Both Maxima Automatic and Manual are good for low to mid 14's. i ran a 14.7@93mph which is 2mph slower than the automatic maxima there trapped in the quatermile. trapspeed is a good indication of power.
this is all meaning less best way find out is race him. You should be pleased.

^ motor trend is the only magazine that gets ok times, R&T and C&D usually get some really ****ty times for our Nissans....... like 15.0 for a manual 04 maxima, wtf???

that higher trap might mean they spun lil too much off the line.......

Just watch it though, with just some simple bolt on mods such as a chip, intake and exhaust, he can be making close to 300hp and the torque those turbo Saab engines can make is unreal, way more than the Maxima. Also the Saab's HP and Torque figures are probalby under-rated. It has been proven many times on the dyno that The Saab Viggen which has the 2.3 liter turbo, pretty much like the 2.0 liter turbo your friend has, is rated at 225-230hp at the flywheel STOCK, yet they dyno 225-230hp at the wheels !!!
