Lowest mph to get in the 12's (slicks)

Title says it all. What kind of mph (minimum) do you think would be required with slicks to run a 12.99?

Typically the mph can tell you potential of a car. Boosted guys must have an idea what it takes for a 12.9...

I'm just gonna go ahead and say 106....but it's different for every car. Auto/manual, types of mods, weather etc...could be up to 112. It all depends.

Probably because he wants to get into the 12s. I'd say 106 is about the lowest mph you can get into the 12s with this car. Low 1.8 60' and 106 would probably do it.

when I ran the 12.9 in my old 02 Auto the trap speed was 106. 60' was 2.0 but the tranny was dying trying to shift with all the torque. I would say 110+ to get into the 12's on street tires and 105-106 on slicks.

i trapped a 111 mph at 12.9 right at the border of 13. i had minimum tire spin and a great solid run. i've also seen many cars trap around that range give or take a few.

Mardi is going to be impossible to catch soon. I think he's putting a built 3.5 in if I'm not mistaken. Better start concentrating on beating on us N/A guys instead.

What size where those M&H? I am planning on buying M&H 8.5x24.5x15 and I calculated that at such a tire diameter, with a 106.00 mph trap speed, I would pass the traps at around 6100 RPM in 4th gear. Considering I have a VQ35 with stock IM (peaks at around 5500), I think it's pretty good. But I am not sure the other mods (headers, CAI, exhaust system) will move the powerband a bit higher...

I don't think I will trap 106 though, not at first. I think maybe 104 without more tuning.

I think they were 24.5 I am not really sure. They were a bit shorter than stock. I just got a new set of slicks that are a bit taller. 26X8.5X15 MT.

Yeah SR is definately going to be in the mid-12s if he gets a low 1.8 60' and maybe some more tweaking.

I am hoping for at least 13.99 on street tires. I ran 15.00 with 156whp so with 240-ish and 100 less lbs I would hope for 13's.

man how much money do you have to stick into a max to make it run 12's.... I don't want to even imagine.

Depends on the year, but a safe bet is an auto Max with slicks and a shot of nitrous. A nice setup would cost around $1500. Not that much if you think about it. Oh yeah......mad skillz too

That's the best way to do it. If I ever get in the 12s with this setup, it will have cost me about (corrected to US money) 4.5k in mods, slicks included. But contrary to boost, it's on 24/7 and as reliable as a stock max.

I have one 104 mph 12.9 with a 35 shot but usually its in the 105 range. I also have a 105 mph 13.5 slip N/A. You have to realize that how a car is setup ie boosted, nitrous or N/A does have a bearing on the time/mph ratio. Nitrous tends to produce quicker times and lower mph time slips than turbo/supercharged application because it produces the HP right out of the hole, no waiting for it to build so its sometimes hard to compare.

I think with a little bit bigger shot of nitrous I could be pull off a high 12-second pass at around 107-108. I'm thinking of a 125 shot and slicks. hopefully that'll do the trick.

Yea, I was just giving him a hard time. His car should handle the nitrous just fine. 11psi and a 100shot on a stock motor untuned is asking for it, but it looks like yours held together for a good pass.

the motor was built by vinny ten. i had that motor for three yrs 60,000 miles. the way vinny had it hooked up it was fine. the crazy part was it was a dry set up but i was running a 60 shot when vinny tuned it for me. i had a big race with a audi A4 with a S4 motor pushing 19lb turbo. during testing i ran a 75 shot and it pulled hard and smooth, so i said a 100 shot should be ok. well i wound up beating the guy which i posted had him out the hole 10 cars then by the end of the 1/4 poof and over the finish line with him right on my tail. if i would of have the proper tuning and safegaurds id still have that engine today. blubyu whats the update on your car i get mine back tommorow its all ready to go with J&S safegaurd (got that idea from mardi).

the update is its still on 4 cylinders in the garage. Still planning what im going to do for the buildup. Im thinking the 3.5 bottom end so i can keep the JWT ECU etc etc. Hopefully in another month I'll have it all worked out and ready to get put together.

it all depends, your 60' could really suck and then blast it and you could end up with a 12 sec ET and really high MPH or you could be doing brackets and see someone run 12s and let off at the end and have 12s and low mph
