5.5th gen Auto at GLD in Union Grove, WI -part of Max meet.

Hello all,

Ran the Max a few times. Track was slippery (free runs opening week...), and the weather was good maybe 60-63 degrees.

Ran:

14.66 95.3 2.283 60' time
14.65 95.6 2.285 60' time

and

14.607 95.8 2.272 60' time

Mods: Berk technologies intake / Cattman Y-pipe

Tire pressure at 28 psi.

I was spinning out of the hole, but since I had so few runs, I couldn't adjust quick enough.

Next up thinking about getting the crushed section (b-pipe, right?) changed to allow better exhaust up top. Maybe I can get 1 mph or something.

A G35 Auto at the track, was told he ran low 15's at 95-96 as well. A GS4xx ran consistent 14.7's at 96.

Nice day to run, but no traction.

There were 2 g35 sedans, one was a g35x. One ran low/mid 14s all day and had a suspicious looking hood with 2 bulges, hmm.

The G35 running low 14's at 100'ish is supercharged. If I had a blower, I'd be pi$$ed if I was only trapping 100'ish mph.

I knew it. Yeah, I didn't know if he was boosting so I was like nice, guy has a nicely moded g35 and runs good times. If he's boosted, I feel sorry for him. Even if he was only running 5-6psi.

I was going to ask about the G35c traps since the buldge was there. I saw an auto G35C in a magazine, it's a roots type s/c correct?

Trapping @ 100, it's got more in it ... traction = 13's easily.

Congrats on the time, I am also thinking of the b-pipe, I have to wait at least a month, gotta recover from all the maintenance items my 4g needed recently, and not to mention the VB from maxtuning for my 5.5g ... Time to hibernate the wallet.

Not bad considering the traction problems. Getting the b-pipe will most likely help your mph considerably. After I got my b-pipe (and straight pipe, not that it does much), i gained about 2 mph. Used to trap ~ 95 w/intake/UDP, last time I went, was trapping 97.xx all day (intake, UDP, cat-back). Can't wait to hit the track again myself! just need to get my car back from the body shop.... damn black ice

What did you gain with the b/straight pipe in the 1/4 time?

Nice runs. You're getting quicker and faster. A better 60 foot would put you in the upper 14.4s too.

As for the G, I wonder if he was blowing the tires off? His traps were good, but his ETs suck. My friends bonestock 03 G sedan auto does low 14.7s@96mph with slow 2.3 60 foots quite consistently, even with having to pull his 280lb butt down the track. I hope my G can atleast do a 14.5@96mph with me (much lighter) and my short and 15lb lighter drag radials. Hopefully we'll see this weekend. Lots of G sedan guys seem get 14.3-14.6@96mph+ in their stock sedans. Mine feels pretty good, but my butt dyno sucks.

Can't say exactly, as I changed more than 1 thing for my runs that night that could have affected times. Trap speed doesnt really depend on launch or weight, mainly on power, which is why I say i gained ~ 2 mph. As for times, before running w/the b-pipe, my best was like 14.45, and i was consistantly running 14.30x after the b-pipe, and hit as low as 14.1xx... but weight reduction, different tire pressure, "suspension mods" all could have affected times due to better launches

Thanks Dave. I figure with track prep, I could snag a 14.50 without too much difficulty. The car feels quite strong, and she showed it. Wonder what she would dyno. I was running quicker than the stock G35 Sedan, with identical traps.

The G's are sweet looking cars though, but sort of out of place at the track, similar to when I see the AMG's, you know they are quick yet it surprises you to see them at the track, LOL.

Derek, I had gotten my car out of the body shop too actually. $5K impact to rear left. Rear slid out from behind on a patch of ice, and I spun into a concrete divider. Thankfully the car was repairable. I learned my lesson, have new set of tires, HTR+'s all around. The shop did a great job though. PrinzII, a mod here and in the detail forum said (at our race meet) it was a clean blend, with just one spot where he could tell repairs where made.

So the B-pipe I can get a quality muffler place to fabricate me one or what?

If anything I might try the B-pipe now keeping the stock exhaust, and another orger Speedy6 suggested I get my timing advanced. Wonder if this really helps, any 5.5th gen guys have this done? Anyway, would like to have the car running 97 traps and 14.4's, like Derek.

i'll always empty everything from the trunk, sometimes pull the front passenger seat, rear seat and rear backrests. having the car light definatly helps the 60' and 330' times.

I actually had gone to get the car washed, so it was vacuumed and all the junk was out. Granted this only amounts to a few lbs of stuff, but I thought what the heck.

I ran w/o spare tire/jack, and mat/carpet in trunk, that's it as far as weight savings...3/8ths tank of gas by the way.

Oh Derek, ran a 260hp Mustang GT (Auto) with h-pipe and exhaust, we were mirror images the whole way down the track, got him out of the hole with a .022 r/t to his .044 (.000 clocks) and 60' time we were identical 2.28. His two cylinders got me at the end though, he outtrapped me 96.5 to my 95.6 and beat me by a fender length 14.56 to my 14.65, that was a great run. My buddy in the stands was saying the crowd was shocked, LOL.

Nice run w/the Mustang! I LOVE taking on those 260 hp GT 'Stangs... such a good race and the drivers are always shocked to lose or barely win...

As for mirror images, I've had that happen with a couple cars at the track, its awsome. Once was TL Type-S, another 02 Maxima, and my favorite was a slightly modded WRX that wasted me out of the hole and i edged out by the finish... sooooo fun

^ talking about previous posts how u mentioned the altima se-r felt the quickest, then g35coupe/sedan than finally your maxima and TL or something

i remember u saying before even with ypipe and intake it felt slower than se-r, yet u'r running 14.5-6s... so im just trying to figure out how the SE-R would compare in the 1/4...

The TL had good top end, but the 3.5 VQ definatly has better torque, as i got him off the line, beat him down the 1/4, but he trapped 1.5 mph higher or so. It's also a heavier car. Course that particular day i could only pull 14.8's due to terrible traction.... had it been stickier, he would have been cause i wouldnt have spun all thru 1st gear
