Place racing cold air question?

is there any track proof that a place racing intake drops the ET by any real margin that couldnt be contributed to the driver? i am asking this because i just bought a knock-off place racing intake and installed it but i havent taken my car to the track ever and i wonder if it did anything or if its just cosmetic in anycase i still love it and will be getting a y-pipe soon hopefully. btw my car is mostly stock exept the DR mod and a little weight reduction speed wise at least

Intakes are mostly for sound, and rice (we all have to have a little rice on our cars, no matter how much we hate civics). I guess the fact that it gets cold air should probably help. My guess is that it doesn't do anything in cold/ideal weather, but can help you in warm weather. Basically you might be a little less affected by hot temps, but I wouldn't expect any gains in ideal temps.

yea thats pretty much what i thought but i just wanted it confirmed but i know that it does feel like it maybe more resonsive to part-throttle than my old hotair intake but then again i also had the stock resonator on there too but ill tell you what it deffinatly sounds awsome at WOT

when i added my pr style intake to my y pipe and exhaust, i went from consistent 16s, to consistent 15.4s, to now 15.2. I went from 15.4 to 15.2 with lighter smaller wheels, but from the 16s to 15.4 with only adding the intake. Not saying it will give you .5, but it cant hurt

i dont know the elevation, we went to great lakes dragaway in union grove, WI, both times i ran my car. it sucked, because i was at around 16.2 or so, then went to 15.4s all night the next time we went. CAI was the only thing different, so i attribute my times to that

i honestly dont think they do much, i certainly dont have any proof. im leaning towards cai over the others. hey you got any pics of your ebay cai and how did you like the quality. im thinking of buying one and installing it so i can remove my foglight and look cool ! lol no seriously there are several on ebay and wondered if one had better quality pieces than the other, i guess we can all say those filters are lame.

haha, the filters are lame. im not saying that by installing one you will receive .5 off your 1/4 mile, but the extra air into the motor will compliment an exhaust (y-pipe) nicely.

My 1/8 mile time dropped from 9.01 to a best of 8.84 going from a stock air box to a PR CAI. Dynoed, it went from 213 HP/220 TQ to 219 HP/232 TQ.

It may not do much but it's one of those little mods that I'd rather have than not have

^except if you blew a MAF....disassembling that thing would be such a pita....am i the only one that thought the install was way too much for just an intake? i mean ****, battery removal, fuse box removal....CHASSIS drilling! not to mention that fit is so tight, I honestly can't see the battery fitting 100% stock. mine's like less than half an inch to the left if you're looking directy at it from the front, but the tie down obviously makes it secure so i really don't care. it's just nice knowing you have something better than ricer injen

the install isnt too bad on a 4th gen, i dunno about a 5th gen. i hated drilling into my baby too, but oh well. ill get over it. by itself, im sure its not the greatest mod, but coupled with an exhaust, it will help you out. Like i said above, i had y pipe and exhaust, and was hitting 16s all day, added the intake, and im consistent low 15s.

yea ive taken some pics but i have to upload them to my comp at home stupid comp at work wont let me but it looks good i thing the welds are of poor quality tho and could be smoothed out but no leaks so thats all i care about but make sure you get the one that looks like a PR intake cause there are a couple diff ones but did you guys do anything to prevent the holw you drilled from rusting?
