going to the track.... maybe?
hey everyone. my buddy wants to go to the track this weekend, and i have never been. what am i looking at running with a 02 auto?. i have 1 12 inch sub in the trunk and thats it. i only have a injen intak at the moment as well. should i even run or no? i raced my buddy who has an 02 silverado 5.3 with intake exh. and the power program and i beat him. He ran a 14.97 i believe. he has a few other things done but i am not sure what. should i even waste the gas since its so frickin expensive. let me know asap please. thanks guys
Sure you should go. No harm in spending the afternoon at the track. I love going and try to to go at least five or six times a year. I don't know too many people who go and don't like it. But be careful, usually after going to the track people can get much more into modding their car and the money starts to disapear. But it is up to you. I don't see why you would ask us if we think you should go or not. It is not some big decision or anything. It is just driving your car hard for a few seconds.
Being your first time you should not expect very good results. Most of the time the first time out is disapointing. Many people think they are good drivers until they go to the track. It is a different type of driving and takes gettig used to. There are those who are good at it righ from the start, but the majority of people spend the first day spining their tires and running bad times.
Most likely you will run 15's with a 2.5 60'. But don't be discouraged if you do. There will be tons of room for imporvement. But you never know, you migh run low 14's and be a natural at launching.

yea deff. go it will give you a thrill if your into seeing how much you can get out of your car. like previously stated dont expect GREAT times but be optimistic i went to the track for the first time ever fri and ran pretty good i think for my first time and the mods i have 15.601 @ 87.XX mph and i know i can improve all i need to do is work on my 60' time and i think i can drop it at least .1 to.15 secs maybe more with the perfect conditions. just remember to go on the last yellow right before it turns green. maybe brake torque to what ever rpms wont break your tires loose and then just run with it
Oh, yhea I forgot. Make sure you know what your doing before you get inline to run your car. As far as staging and stuff. Just ask people there how it works. You don't want to be that guy who pulls up there and does not know how to stage your car.
Read daveb's post about staging dont worry about the launching hes stick so ignore that but at far as staging goes this will tell you what you need to know http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=401677
hey thanks guys i think i will give it a try i will post my runs on here after i do it. it probably wont be this fri because i forgot about my b day and the old lady wants to take me out but i will deff keep you all posted thanks again!
