help me!!!
well it's track day and we are heading out to LACR and i need a good time today...last visit i ran a 15.3 @ 85.6 with cai, y pipe, b pipe clutch and flywheel. This time i'm goin with a bunch of my friends who talk a lot of **** who drive : 03 stock srt-4, 98 stang gt with p.i. heads and ecu, 97 civic coupe with b16a3 swap and type r tranny, 5.0 stang with i/h/e and a 03 330ci with intake. I know i can't beat all of them but the 330ci and the civic are possible. My question is what should my front tire psi be at, because last time at 25psi i was still spinning out of the hole...(on 245/45/17's) and can i use 101 octane safely without having to worry about problems? If you have any other advice please let me know...thanx guys

15.3 @ 85 is weird. Post up the rest of the numbers on it. If you are only trapping 85 you don't have a chance at beating any of them unless that track is just ungodly slow. Is LACR the track that has sand blowing across it all the time? I've heard that's a crap track but unless it was like 120 degrees I'd expect to see a trap speed of at least 90-92 with your mods. At a decent track in decent conditions a stock 4th gen should trap no lower than 90mph, 92mph is about average, 93-94 has been seen in really good conditions.

this was my time from a couple of months ago but when i went back the conditions were horrible, and btw, LACR is that track where sand is blowin around and it's not sea level, but regardless i did considerably worse this time....i couldn't get traction out of the whole regardless at what i would launch at and my best time slip looks like this

yeah something is wrong with your car. The track i race at is 2200ft higher in elevation, and is not known for being a fast track. We have similar mods (short ram, y pipe, straight pipe, and exhaust), but i trap 4 mph faster than you.
for one your tire size doesnt help either. if you went to a 16 or even 15 your time will drop also. when i run i run at 16lbs of pressure on drag radials, that seemed to be the best traction for me. i dont know if you could go that low on street tires but it seemed the less the air the better the times and also reducing weight in the same breath. when i ran with my 17's and street tires i was almost 1/2 second slower than the 225/50/ 16's on dr's.
edit: come to think of it your tires are too tall 245/45/27 throws off your gear ratios if im correct.

What were the conditions, and your slip would greatly help .. Try 22-25psi. No matter what fuel you use, make sure your tank is almost empty to save on weight.
