DR mod - no help
DR mod - no help
Anyone actually notice a positive change in time when they use the DR mod? Everytime I use it I run about the same or slightly worse in the 1/4 mile. I haven't really seen any benefits out of it. My best time has been with it off so far.
Is your tach off like most other 5.5gs? If so how much, and where do you shift to compenate for the off calibration ... ?
I'd say try a run with it properly working DR(no DR mod) and compare, and w/e gives you a better time, stick with it.

It won't help as much with a 2k2, they don't shift as quickly as the 4th Gens. You also won't see much if any difference unless you are running in the 12-13 sec range.
You should really think of it as a mod to save your tranny while racing because there is less wear and less heat buildup because of the quicker shifts.

I just finished abusing my new motor and new Infiniti VLSD auto with a 35-shot WOT + 75-shot (second gear and on - floor switch). Without the DR mod, it takes FOREVER to shift with an extra 100 hp...... D*mn, this setup feels stronger than before......

Previous 1/4 13.7 -101.5, 2.0 60' on one slick - no VLSD.

I'm also going to call
on squealing your tires in third gear unless your driving in the rain.We don't shift into third until i think 82mph.Unless your talking of a little chirp.

Believe it. Think about doubling your to-the-ground wheel horsepower. Think about getting to 80 MPH in less than 9 seconds. And second-to-third gear is faster than most peoples' manual shifting.
Until you do it, it's hard to appreciate.. Ask Jime. He wrote the manual.
yeah, i doubt he'd bs that. if he's running 13.7, ill believe squealing into third. I could chirp second with the DR with 00VI/I/Y/E, so with a 75 shot, i believe it. The DR mod made the car FEEL faster, but it was actually faster by .1 or so at the track without using it. My best PB came with it off, even though it felt like it was taking forever to shift.

Drag radials don't spin as much, but they still scream well into second. Don't believe? Go to a drag strip on test-and-tune nights. You'll see that and a lot more. I'm slow compared to some monster street cars that come out to play at night.
My mod list includes MEVI, DR-mod, tranny cooler, 3-inch Warpspeed complete exhaust, dual NX nitrous, various MSD RPM switches, Tokico Ilumina struts and springs, 16x7.5 ASA JS5 wheels, custom fuel manifold, AERO fuel regulator for the Walbro 255lph pump, and other fun stuff.
My limited-slip tranny now makes both front tires spin together, instead of mostly the passenger-side tire. I'm looking forward to another trip to the track on the DRs !
If you use too heavy of a shot on launch, your're not moving very fast for a while. I tried a 100-shot on launch, and pulled the drag radials in against the fender wells on both sides. Not recommended. JClaw's traction bars cured that problem, but using two nitrous stages makes it easier to control.
Mine's wired to the WOT switch for the first stage and a shallow box with four push-button switches wired in parallel on the floor, next to the left side, for the second stage. This is MUCH safer to use than buttons on the steering wheel!
I have no problem believing you burn your tires in 2nd but have a very hard time beleiving that you do in 3rd and why you would want to.You might be able to if you are on an uneven road with cracks but i don't think it would happen at the drag strip.

You're exactly right = "Two separate runs from at-stop on a long on-ramp today -" being a typical asphalt road with cracks. I don't think it happens at the strip, but there is too much happening at once to check.
I do it because it's kinda fun.... and on-ramps don't have a lot of cross-traffic or intersections - you just have to slow down to merge. Actually a good place to test mods "right now".
