His only mods are an aftermarket AGP wastegate, a turboXS boost controller (which he turned the boost up 2 psi from stock), and an oil catch-can.


** forgot to add he races an '02 Mustang GT 5 speed

 

The stock turbos on those cars are small! Stock boost is 14psi holding 11psi at redline. You need a wastegate actuator and boost controller to raise boost and hold it. Anything above 20psi on stock unmodified turbo is blowing out hot air.

16psi on stock turbo is nothing.

 

Anyway, I have seen the video and it is true that C Max took the SRT4 out by a few car lenths. Drivers skill is very important, which C Max has.

 

i took the video of c max run on my sprint phone and it is sick. i swore he was gonna lose after seeing the srt move off crazy hard (mad respect for them also) but c-max just left him like he was standing still. the neon crew now has mad respect for the max and sometime i joke around and say you wanna run and they say nah, lol. thats priceless thanks c max.

I think you will kill that SRT-4. I have an 02 and I have killed plenty without NOS. They are just Neons with a bodykit and a turbo. I think you will smoke him. You should bet him money on it too.

I ran a Srt@ 18lbs from a dig this weekend. Otta the hole i pulled anywhere between 4 and 5 cars on him and by 90 i still had about 2-3 cars on him. Srt's are a Biatch to launch and with me being an auto i hooked REALLY fast...it was pretty much over from there.

 

lucky for u the kid just started drivin manual 3 days ago.

 

SRT4's are no where near a biatch to launch... in fact they perform the beastliest ( stay with me now ;-) ) launches of almost all FWD cars. I've seen more than a few of them take a WRX off the line.

Manual SRT4 + LSD + 18lbs Boost -VS- Auto 5th Gen + Intake + Y-pipe = BUTTRAPING

 

Yeah of all FWD cars, I see the best 60' times in street trim out of SRT-4s and GTPs.

 

So true. I've heard of low 1.9/high 1.8 60 foots out of street trim GTPs and SRT-4s. I don't know how they do it.

An SRT-4 is not as great as you all think that it is. Yes they run a 14.3 but an auto Maxima runs a 14.7 and a manual runs a 14.5. The Maxima has a 50shot so I think if you sprayed you would definitely win. If you just ran on engine then I think it would be a very close race. I have beaten quite a few SRT-4's and their not that fast. It also depends on how well he has tuned his car in terms of A/F ratio. But if you sprayed I think that you will kill him.

 

at the track? If you beat them at the track then they either can't drive or you got a better reaction time than they did. Actually the same is true if you raced one from a stoplight.
Why don't you race one from a roll. Going fast in a straight line is what they were built for.

 

I beat an SRT-4 on the street, granted he had like 4 200lbs. people in the car with him. He still killed me in first though

 

those things have a KILLER 3rd gear

yea i think there 2nd gear is there best gear.

 

everytime i run its the same result, first gear neck on neck, second gear car pulls a 1/2 car easy then i suck em back in. i say the same thing everytime, oh oh i think he got me when he pulls into second lol.

i read 4 pages of all this crap and still no video of a max against a srt4....grr....anyways.....yeah theres alot about driver skill too...haha....ill put myself as an example....my first time drag racing....96 maxima 5 speed...cattman y pipe...warpspeed b pipe...bomz intake (its dirty cheap!..hehe)... anyway....i was nervous i ran a shih tay 1/4....like 15.65...and i know many of u guys run like a second faster with like the same mods....so yeah.... i have no idea where im going but uve read my sad story.

 

wow, i could of never seen it coming. this weekend my boy ran against a srt with his 7M supra running 30lbs of boost. i'll start like this, as they took off the line my boys supra launched like a **** for a instant 7 car lead. by mid race the neon caught up, passed and won by 7 cars WTF? i've seen it all tonite guys this supra is a high 11 car. the srt is running a 50 trim gtr40 or something like that turbo and its sick you heard. the word is he's running almost 11 flat in the 1/4. also present were the 2 other neons i ran previously as we just looked at each other and laughed, then got into our slow cars and left lol.

 

damn i need to hang around u.. thats a sick race to witness! ;-)

 

well also out there was a 10 second evo with 604 hp to the wheels. a few of you guys know who im talking about. that car is so sick to see launch, every gear looked like he was gonna do a wheelie lol. after watching these runs i realized im slow lol.

 

i went to LACR tonight and ran my friends srt-4....my first time ever driving it and i ran a 14.5....he ran a 14.3....to the contrary of what someone stated earlier it seemed very easy to launch....BTW guys LACR is a SLOOOOW track....today 2 g35's and a 350z were at the track....none got better than a 15.5.....an sti also got a 15.1..... and to answer the question my money is on the neon

super smart there, cept when you race in canada you go by km/h. they were doin less than 120 when he said 180.

 

Yeah we race by km's up here. The 4th gen cluster goes to 220, 3rd gen to 240 and 5th gen to 260.

that was a sad video.. in that the RWD G35 was outlaunched by an SRT4 (FWD, Turbo)

 

Regardless of who outlaunched who, that specific SRT4 is still alot faster than that G was.

ha, yeah, most cars that come from the factory with drag radials are easy to launch..i dunno, maybe the ones ive driven were just freaks

There are tons of different mitsubishi turbos. Not just the ones you hear about as typical upgrades for DSMs.
