I'm definetly outnumbered here but I have to say something...

Flame me all you will but the S2000 with a GOOD driver is gonna walk that max.

Everyone saying that s2000 from a rolling start isnt realizing how fast that s is going to hit its VTEC engagement at a rolling start.
You are going to have a better chance from a dead stop.
I dont know what kinda driver you've seen with an S2000 on the 1/8th but i've seen a 6spd run consistent 9.1s and even break into the high 8's... different drivers, different cars, one has intake the other has I/E. 1/4's are between 13.8 and 14.2 ..... These are not GREAT drivers, by any means, but they do know how to drive their cars.
These times were consistent and were ran at Gateway International Raceway in St.Louis /Madison IL from september thru november.

Road & Track also lists a 1/4 of 13.9@100.2mph

I am a little biased because I do own a few honda's but am in the market for an 02-03 VQ35 6M equipped Max.

Yes, they sound like pissed off weedeaters, they rev out to 8200, and there are approximately 2,223,454,033 variations of the same car, but come on, there is something to be said for some of the times, hp numbers, and horsepower per liter these motors are putting out.

hp? i believe that they dont make over 100 horse AT THE CRANK until after 4000...those dont sound like impressive numbers to me. if the guy drives his max right, and the s2000 driver isnt a perfect driver, he will win.

Goshblamit - true, they're true sleepers above 4,000rpm when their VTEC hits but they still s.u.c.k. . You got rugby ***** for saying that stuff on this forum... OT sorry guys.

Racing an S2K can be looked at like racing a WRX non-STI. They're capable of pulling quick times if the owner is willing to drive the car hard, yet hardly worth noting if the driver isn't going to drive it hard. You really have to race him and find out, but my money goes to the S2k because they have the potential of running a better time than your Max, however i wouldn't be surprised if you won. It would be interesting to see the outcome of a slow roll vs. a race from a stop because as previously mentioned, those engines make .000000000000000000001ft lbs below 3489798247289347289472893472RPM, but on the other hand they're light as ***** and are still reasonably quick in the 1/4.

Just putting in my 2 cents. My buddy owns an S2000 and I drive it all the time. If the S2000 has a decent driver he will win. And to answer the above posts the VTEC doesn't kick in till around 7000 rpms, but when it does, it's a beast. From a roll you won't win either unless he starts at low rpms, but if he can drive, he will walk away. We race my friends z06 from a roll and don't loose toooo bad. But you do have to start at pretty high rpms to even have a chance.

Just figured I would give my opinion since I have driven both cars. take it for what it's worth.

Just 2 things bro: 7,000RPMS????? So you're a beast for 300rpm till the cut-off? haha...

Who's driving the Z06? My Grandma?

No seriously the S2000 must be an amazing car but I don't like Hondas - except the Accord Euro (shame it's gutless down low - like all Hondas).

S2000's do NOT redline at 7300 rpms. At least the ones with a higher HP rating from the year 2000. Just in case you were wondering. We have my friends at around 9000 all the time (yeah he treats his cars rough) And the z06 driver isn't very good.....

9,000rpm?

Wow - that's high alright, but how often do you get the chance in city driving to rev to 9,000rpm? Not very often, so you're probably stuck below the VTEC kick-in where an S2000 probably gets half its VTEC power. I'd rather have a VQ V6 that could had the low-down tq we get with a redline of 8,000rpm plus like with a Honda engine.

That would blow away most cars.

the s2000 doesnt redline at 7300, i think the actual redline isnt until 8 or 9 k and the cutoff is still higher. yet, i think the vtec is lower than 7000
