you cant have both btw. headers have a different pipe that takes the place of what is commonly reffered to as a Y-pipe.

that's right, counting horses is one thing, but there's other factors to determine who wins. Like Neal said, driver is a big one in this arguement. Also, what about torque ratings and at what rpms??? you got to find out the powerband characteristics to determine this kinda stuff. Another thing, just a thought, though, a smaller horsepowered car can still kill a bigger if driver is good along with closer-ratio gears. And power to weight ratio is another factor to play with, also. extra horses helps, but not always win the race.

I used to drive an 92 acura legend with 206 horses compared to my brother's 190 horses maxima. both auto and i can never beat him in the quartermile races. although on the interstates, i can slowly walk him off, but not in the quartermiles.

h2kfrosty once said," Mag times are alot like phone #'s on bathroom walls, you can call them but its prolly the wrong #. but these 04 TL times do seem impressive:

2004 Acura TL 14.8
2004 Acura TL 6 speed 14.44
2004 Acura TL A Spec 14.25

source: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html

Im aware its not the 2005 TL that is being spoken of here but if the 04 is fwd, that is a handful. The only stock maxima i see being able to dog fight with one of these would be the 5.5 Gens with manual box. * And again I realize its a mag time, take the 350Z for example.

2003 Nissan 350z 5.4 14.1 (magtime)

I have seen plenty of these run 13.7-13.9 stock, so really its a ball park figure, while plenty 350's do run that time and slower, plenty run high 13's stock as well.

the beauty of racing !

Oh absolutely, but if you want to see the highway pull of a car, look no further than the trap speed. I personally like to get the most out of my trap speed, i.e good ET for the trap, but in the second half of the track, it's all about trap speed.

haha thank you for bring back a dead thread. but anyhow this is all confusing and what funnier is half the time I post on here drunk so sry friends. anyways to clear the whole thing up I got in my grandma's TL and raced this 6th with what seemed like an aftermarket cat back the night before and I got on a high horse because I had thought that the 6th gen was amazing and the TL was weak. Not true now like you said it all depends, but for the sake of reason we were on a straight away in auto's not much driver flaw there if you ask me. anyways sry for the mix up. btw thanks for that post on the mag times ceasar it cleared soem things up for me, but from now on I think I'll tangle with my 4th Gen and leave the TL to the higher powers.

... and that idiotic statement of me laughing at the 12.8 maxima time... (shakes head) I dont know why I said that this kid that lives in miami supposedly runs 11.1 in his max. but all bolt-ons, 3.5, possible gutting and tons of juice I imagine. I dont know any of the specs but from what I hear he's not well known. so I apoligize for that as well.

I raced a TL at the track. Maybe driver error but I did spank him. My 14.33(auto) to his 14.89

Fastest stock FWD factory car is the SRT-4. Fastest stock is something like 13.7@103.

I ran a newer TL on the highway about a week ago. The TL with the rectangular type exhaust. Dead even from 70MPH to 120 MPH. Maybe he wasn't completely floored??

i drive my dads 05 TL all the time..and i assure you it wont run away from my mildly modded auto 5.5gen...in fact im quite sure i can beat it from a stop.. however that thing is nothing to mess with at highway like speeds
From what ive seen most of the auto TLs are running 14.8's ish and with a good launch im about.2-.3 faster than that..

Just because she paid more doesn't mean it's faster. My money goes to the 5.5 6sp.

btw- I've owned two 2nd gens.
The old SHO's with the Yamaha engines were the fastest. Later gens came with a garbage V8 and automatic transmissions. The kicker in those old SHO's was getting them off the line. From a roll they were a definate threat to 4th gens.

Guess he wasn't completely floored as I suggested could be the case (please read). Also Charcoal95GXE has seen them running 14.8's so I don't see how it couldn't be close in that case. Maybe the auto TL was spinning its tires at 80MPH due to the hella maxima killing power?

people forget the TL weighs a lot more than 2k2/2k3 maxima's...and it was over rated on the power front by Honda.

not by any means, on the TL boards, an auto STOCK dynoed at 215 HP, 210 TQ if you subtact, say 18% from what they rate them at you are RIGHT on the money.

You never mentioned racing from a stop.. only from a roll, and with that said, the TL has much more power than you do because of your restrctive manifold.

If that's the case then this is in the wrong forum since this is for track racing only.

Oh good one, forgot about those. Also the Dodge Spirit R/T 5spd. Not the fastest FWD ever but I'd venture to say it was the fastest FWD in it's day.
