my mom has a 2006 TL... automatic. I think a manual 5th gen can keep up with it

Haven't it's just an insult towards mazda, I drove the mazda 6 speed and the protege speed back in the day and they were nothing special.. so the 3 will disappoint as well guaranteed.

The MazdaSpeed 3 will have the same engine as that , with obviously less weight. Though the engine is said to be bit detuned, it still has more potential than the 6.

Protege'... are effing STUPID?

you can be a real arrogant dude at times.. the mazdaspeed protege was just some miscellaneous info thrown in there. Just to make apoint that mazda continues to dissappoint when they make these claims.

-RX8. Need I say more.

-I see so many for sale on the side of the road. There's another car I've riden in and was like wtf lame..

But this is all IMO man I'm not stating the facts on the mazdaspeed 3 because theres no way I can.

I take back the guarantee that it will disappoint because that is unfounded, there you go.

Indeed.. obviously old habits die hard, now its this other thing, honestly I was under the impression that I30T's were turbo'd lol. I've seen 3+ that have been including MikeI30T, it made sense and had a friend tell me they were. Guess I should've done my research, but then again I don't own one so egh..

Maybe not so wize in that aspect but I can deal.

Nothing really worth mentioning. I went 12.53 (new personal best by .15 seconds) a few weeks ago on a motor with a blown headgasket and without being able to launch it worth a darn. Hopefully I can get some better times in upcoming weeks when I get some more seat time with a real tire on the car, I just put a new motor in it last weekend (all nighter to swap motor FTMFL). BTW Mardi's quickest time is 11.4 and tilley's is 11.5 so they are a full second or more up on my best time, I'm not even in their ballpark and probably won't ever be.

Omg

There is this kid that actually thinks a 1997 Honda Civic EX (BONE STOCK) will "kill me off the line and I won't have time to catch up", I was like yeah right, he is so stupid, he thinks that it runs mid 13's stock, I was so mad when I heard that because he was saying that I would need abunch of work just to keep up with that Civic and mouthing behind my back, the kid is obviosioly a complete moron. But I still would like some feedback just to calm me down on how slow a 1997 Civic EX is. Oh yeah, he thinks that just because it has a "V-Tec" it is something special. So burn that car, I'm supposed to race the little idiot, sometime next month but until then I guess he can mouth all he wants until I smoke him. But I think the Maxima is the fastest FWD car. MAXIMA'S RULE!!!

uhh....thanks for the story. yes you will beat him, but if you read this thread you would have realized that a maxima is not the fastest FWD car. and a civic is REALLY not

well, it shouldnt have VTEC if it's a bone stock Civic EX, so either he has a motor swap, or maybe it's an Si. If its a B18 or B20 with a B20 head, he will give you a run for your money. Are you 6 speed or auto? B16 you would smoke provided you know how to drive. You should still beat him

It has a 1.6L V-Tec from the factory, I have a 6-speed and I can drive it. But it is a Civic EX Coupe and it is slow.

Civic EX's are SOHC VTEC. Not that it matters though...

I had a 95 EX back in the day... I went 15.9@87 stock - compared to 14.5 @ 95 in my 4th gen. that should tell you something.

youre right, my apologies. I thought it was just a 1.6 liter non VTEC, but now that you mention, I know a couple people around here with the SOHC VTECs in their ricemobiles. You should have no problem roasting that thing. Give him a car length head start just to be cocky. I did that against an SI in my auto with just i/y/e and won by a car length. Id love to race an SI with my 5 speed now.

I have had a 94 Taurus SHO and it was a fun car. Pretty close to my 2k 5-speed Maxima. I also had a Shelby CSX and it was a freaken fast little car based on a Dodge Shadow. I used to smoke my buddies 5-speed IROC all the time. He also had a 5.0 that would slowly walk away from me.

I have moved on from the Max to a new Civic SI. In the short run I think that Maxima was a little quicker. However, once the SI is in VTEC it is a blast. On a backroad it would be nothing but the SI pulling away. I really miss having the torque of the Maxima but wanted a small pocket rocket type car this time. The civic reminds me of riding my ZX6R more than driving a car. The big plus is that if you take it easy you can get 30+ mpg. Never got that it my Maxima. Also guys are running around 14 flat with simple bolt on mods. Most people fun mid to upper 14's stock. Not to shabby for a 2.0 na motor.
