Maxima v. Civic, Rims v. Steelies?

Hey guys, this kid at work thinks his 02 civic si hatch is faster than my stock 4th gen auto Maxima. His only mods are an injen intake and some who-knows-what exhaust. If I was going to race him, would I be better off w/ my 17x8 rims w/ 235/45 tires or my stock steelies? The 17's have some nice kumho's on them, and the steelies have some nice michelin's. Which of the rims would be lighter/ faster in my senario? The 17" rims weigh in at 22 pounds a piece. And I'm not in the wrong for thinking the Maxima is faster am I? The only thing I've done is drop in some royal purple motor oil.

if ur completly stock and not even y pipe. then goodluck. he is probably going to beat you. I think they do low 15's or high 14's with bolt ons. not sure. but they arent that slow.

and when i pulled up the 1/4 mile times for a stock '02 si,it said 7.6 0-60, and 15.8 in the 1/4 mile. that doesn't seem like it's out of reach.

hahahah. i am in the same boat. the guy that work with me has a stock 03 si as well. i drove it and it is pretty quick. i have to say stock for stock. that you would lose at top end. the si is slow off the line then quick once in vtec mode. about 5500rpm. where we drop off. i have heavy 18 and he got light 16 on his. also i got a y pipe, short ram intake, and freshly tuned up motor. i have to say i would get him only from the start. then it be a good slow walk before he catch me. also we both got 2 12 in the trunk. we are pretty even match beside the auto thing. i hate the auto. if i had my mevi on then, it got this race in the bag. end, i will race him, tuesday nite. tell you about it.

yeah, i think i'm going to have my windows tinted this week anyway, so i'll probly take out all of the passenger seats since i'm probly going about 15% and he won't be able to tell anyway. that and i'm taking everything out of the trunk. i won't be closing the store with him for at least a week.

The civic si hatch is pretty fast. I raced one and I'm 5spd with intake vs it stock. It was just about even until I hit 3d. Good luck if you're stock and auto. I would put my money on the civic.
