Ran a 13.007 today before my engine ****ing seized
Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. Get some high lift 3.0 aftermarket cams. That way, when you put the 3.5 in, you don't have to drill anything and you already have aftermarket cams that match the 3.0 cam sprockets ready to go in. Little downtime, more top end.

But I'm open to suggestions on which cams to put in the 3.0... $$$ may still end up dictating what I can do though.
I have been looking at the specs on a bunch of different ones but there seems to be hardly any good test data/dynos to be found for cams in a 3L. Furthermore, if I use VQ35 cams the cam timing will become crucial since there's no such thing as VTC on the 3L.

Basically, my mid range works very funny, almost disappointing. Floor it from idle, it pulls hard till 3k rpms, then dips a little power to 3.5k and pulls to 4k, then dips to 4.5k, then pulls all the way to redline without any signs of hp loss. At high revs, it's a honda vtec at large. I've ridden in a 2002 6-speed maxima and a 6-speed altima, both pulled really hard in the mid range, but got no juice left at higher bands. I have also driven in my brother's 2000 auto maxima w/3.5 swapped in, it's got no juice after 5.5k rpms. My setup with JWT 3.0 cams in my 3.5 motor is totally opposite of those 3.5's I've just described. That should give you a good idea where you'd be if you do 3.0 jwt cams. I just wouldn't recommend JWT S1's on a vq30, unless you'd get the cams dirt cheap.

how many miles did you have on your engine? this is so weird...some guys on here run 14psi with 350whp and a small shot of nitrous with over 100K miles on their engine and they drive it like they stole it and their oil pump never grenades, but others stay NA, put out less than 250whp and this happens...
I really wanted to see your next dyno to and see where your power peaks now without cams...
I am sorry to hear your misfortune and have been following your project 3L with 00VI and the emanage ultimate for some time, kept watching your dyno #'s go up and your ET's go down! I say stay the course and hit 12's NA with the 3.0L...I think JWT cams with the 2 step limiter would do well...maybe throw on a mild port and polish on your heads while they are out...

Yeah it's too bad the dyno will never be known now. I've said it before but my guess based on datalogging and just how the car felt etc was somewhere in the 230-240whp range and peak around 7000-7200 rpms. Not like I can prove it now though.

how did you get it to peak so high...considering your last dyno peaked at 6600 without cams...you didn't take out your power valve in the 00VI did you? Cause I know that can shift where it peaks...
I think I'm going to see if I have any good EU datalogs from the last couple weeks before the engine seized. If I do I'll develop an equation for the slope of the rpm line, then doing a little calculus should give me a good estimate for the peak power point. Now things like road grade, wind direction etc could influence it since any logs I could use were taken all over the place on various back roads, but maybe it'll give me an idea. And yes the last few months I pulled the valve out, I don't know if it moves the peak point or just increases the top end a bit. Oh and you asked what my mileage on the engine was before, IIRC it was around 117k.
