I have to agree with you on that one and also add the standard 5AT isn't a whole lot better, but can be modded to support the increased HP, not sure if anyone knows how to beef up a CVT tranny.
14.5 is a excellent time for the CVT, My 07 certainly doesn't feel like a 14 second car more like a 15 second car to me. Congrats on the great times! I may take my 07 max to the track this weekend I have never run it before.
I was thinking about this too. I guess cvt teconolgy needs to advance a little more before people start racing them. But from what it sounds and looks like it seems like nissan could beef them up and then we can hack there computer so we don't loose power on the top end?
If you plan on going to the track, go as soon as you can because, the air in Md right now is perfect for running great times.
i was reading this thread, because im a new maxima owner ... well its an '04, but its new to me ... i went to the track today:
60' 2.299
330' 6.257
1/8 9.492
mph 75.93
1/4 14.62
mph 96.04
i have an automatic as well ... my 60 ft was horrible all day, the track was resurfaced and it was like running on the street ... i could see this car hitting 14.3x's - 14.4x's as soon as it hits a 2.1x 60 ft. ...
its a fun car, but its not a mustang

~ just want to add the car is bone stock, just purchased from a one owner (an old lady) so im sure she didnt juice it up ...

i had some 14.80 passes, with lots of spin ... 2.39-2.4 60 ft times ... ive been racing for 15 years, so its hard for me to feather a car out of the hole ... i didnt do to bad with the 2.29, but i think it could be better ... edgewater here in cincinnati was stripped and everyone was spinning pretty bad ...
i know its not a race car, but i was curious to see what it would run ... im very impressed ... i ran on 87 octane, not sure if that hurt or not ... i've been reading this board for a few weeks now and finding these maxima's to be very intriguing ...

thank you, its a nice little website ... full of information ... i will now run 92-93 octane in my maxima, its not my daily driver ~ so it shouldnt kill me to spend the few extra bucks ...
i was wanting to post a thread, but im unable to do so ... i guess im to new and i need more posts?
i was wondering if anyone has dyno'd their car before and after a cold air intake ... just wanting to know what to spend my money on to get the best bang for the buck ...

Welcome to the Org, yes after 15 posts you can start your own thread. Unless of course you're a donating member then you can post from the get go and use search features, not to mention save money from the things you'll learn and the help you'll get!!!

Always use premium fuel for that engine. You don't want any knocking. With that you will only lose performance. Stick with the higher octane.
