14.50 @ 97.98 - 2.21 60' - 2004 Se, 5a

I could open up by telling you guys how great the event I put on every year was, but this is a Maxima board, so.... At the 5th Annual Alamo City Shootout, I ran my car among the Pontiacs. I used to drive a GTP, but still run this event as if I did.

I was hoping I could beat these pretty good:

Best Stock: not enough data yet, but one person ran a 14.3 recently
a mod or two:

Auto (SE 5AT)
Typical Stock: high-14's (14.6-14.8)
Best Stock: 14.4 (ga2000)
a mod or two:

Anyway, my first time down the track (after the car had cooled completely) I spun the tires like there was no tomorrow. I just wanted to get an idea of how it felt at the track. The second time (immediately after), I launched it just like I would have my GTP. I went from a 4.ever 60' and a 15.8 to the following:

60FT -- 2.2600
330FT -- 6.1840
1/8 ET -- 9.3968
1/8 MPH -- 77.09
1000 ET -- 12.1750
1/4 ET -- 14.5089
1/4 MPH -- 97.64

I made another pass immediately after that, but it was obvious the car was too hot for a better pass: 14.5624 @ 96.28, 2.21 60'. Better launch, hotter car.

Then, I went to back to my event duties, which allowed me cool the car back down. Here's what happened:

60FT -- 2.2100
330FT -- 6.1471
1/8 ET -- 9.3721
1/8 MPH -- 76.79
1000 ET -- 12.1624
1/4 ET -- 14.5070
1/4 MPH -- 97.98

In my defense (for the fact that I know I can beat this), we had a pretty stout headwind. But either way, a 2.1x 60' is definitely possible in this car with a 5-spd auto. I have 19" G35c wheels and I removed the spare. No other mods whatsoever. The car weighed 3620 lbs with me in it. I'll get my slips scanned soon for verification.

Great times!
I always thought my brothers 04 Max (auto) felt strong. He's always been afraid to run me because I have a stick. I told him his car feels just as quick as mine. His mods are i/y/p.
I hope we get to go at it this summer we he visits me in Fla.

Big Dave.....put a few more miles on that engine and you'll see better results.

I don't think the problem is the engine, I think the CVT is just very inefficient at higher speeds. There is a definite drag after 70+ mph

It's still a respectable time for this car.
Where in Florida are you located?

Indeed. But your 14.53@95 is respectable...good launches. That, or the CVTs are animals at the bottom.
