1/8 mile Sunday 6/24 in Lancaster, NY
They are having a Sunday Drag, open to amateurs and street grudge matches on the 1/8 mile. They usually have Tuesday amateur nights but that is my golf league day so I can never go. I am going to run it for the first time and I am anxious and excited.
1. Lower front tire pressure to 26 or so
2. Take golf clubs out of trunk...and the other stuff too.
3. Drop the clutch and hope my HLSD does not break.
4. Shift at redline for 1-2 and 2-3 then around 6k-6.3k if I need 4th
5. Have fun and be safe.
Anything else???
Anyone from Buffalo want to go??

Street tires?
I'd go a bit lower than 26, maybe 18-22 psi depending on how much sidewall you have. Also you may find traction on the launch will be better using more of a clutch slip technique than a dump. You shouldn't need 4th gear if it's only 1/8 mile...
Good luck.

Dammit I am running 225/50 17 for now do you think 16-22 is safe? Going to get some of the General Exclaims I think sometime this summer and was thinking 245/45 or 235/45.

I really dont know so I just dont want to blow the tires off the rims right now. I guess going to 22 seems like a good compromise. Getting a good 60' time seems like the most important aspect of a good ET.
Like I said, I am going to be nervous so I am just going to try and have as much fun as I can and not worry about being perfect. I just dont want a 2.9 60', I would be happy at 2.3 I guess. I will let you know how I did even if it is embarassing...thanks

The whole deal is supposed to be fun after all.. haha. Good luck! I've hardly ever met someone who hasn't gotten hooked after ripping down a track the first couple times. 1/4 mile is better than 1/8 mile too IMO so try the full distance at some point too.

I will try the 1/4, but this track is close enough so I can hear it on a clear night. My gals brother runs late models on the circle track so we are there a lot. Not sure where the closest 1/4 mile is, but I think its in Leicester which is still close.
yup nyirp.com (liechester) is the closest. If my motor didnt take a dump I would have tried to meet you at lancaster. Let us know how it goes, ive heard mixed reviews on the track quality there though? But good luck!!
