The gears work great. I too would have liked to but the input shaft and 1st/2nd gears but the price is way too high for what I need. 3rd and 4th are the real problem areas anyway, not too many people have broken 1st or 2nd or an input shaft. I decided a shot-peen/cryo/REM finishing job on the gears would be fine for what I needed.

I didn't even realize the current PPG input/1st/2nd gearset would not work.

hmmm so this means 10's are possible with this car its just that we need someone to fund the parts. NICE TIMES. I wish my car will see similar times one day.

The gti-r input shaft would work, but only problem is that its missing the set of teeth that drive the reverse gear in front 50a/v , the gtir has a slightly different reverse mechanism. What final drive ratio are you running? I think a higher final drive would help a bit since your 26" tires.

I noticed the reverse teeth when I looked back at a picture of the input shaft. I wonder how much more expensive it would be for them to do reverse, it is already very expensive anyway.
I am using the factory 3.82 final drive ratio. I was using 24.5" slicks to lower the ratio, but they got to where they would not hook in 1st gear. The 26" slicks helped that drastically but still in 1st gear they want to spin sometimes. I would hate to change the final drive ratio only to find out that they would not hook in 1st. I assume it would be better than the small slicks due to the bigger sidewall flex of the 26's, but at this point I don't want to change it.

The guy from ppg gave me the same price as the one they already sell for the gtir, which was 2750 AUD (2500ish USD) this includeds input shaft and the matching main shaft gears. I understand your point about the FD, I mentioned it because I know how the rpm's drop in between gears , a shorter gear or higher FD would keep the rev's a little higher and maintain the engine closer to the sweet spot. I'm running a 4.16 FD in my 50A, but something that I have not mentioned is that I don't have a Maxima , I have an altima which has the same trans as the max. There are not too many people trying to build fast altimas so this forum is a good source for me since its very close to my car.

Not to steal away from this thread, but could you PM me some info/pics about your car or maybe post in the Members Rides section? Would just be cool to know more

That is AWESOME! Way to go!

I would love for my car to be in the 11s! I hope to hit 11s with a single stage 150 shot this year.

What fuel are you using?

I ran the car the way it stays 100% of the time. The trunk is empty and no junk in the car, but both factory power driver and passenger seats and the rear seat are all in place.

I have hit plenty of 1.7x 60 ft times, back when I was N/A it was easy, and then I did again a month or so ago at the 1/8th mile track. The track prep when I went to the 1/4 mile was not that great and it was spinning a little bit. Maybe one of these days I can get it together and make a perfect pass...

That's even more impressive running 11's with a full trim!

No way. Maybe gutted with a 100-150 shot of nitrous. This stock motor is not gonna take it.

Indeed! Now I can go around and brag that we have maximas running 11's full trim.

Does anybody know of any S/C 350's running 11's w/o n20. I think the fastest I've seen is a 12.1. Right now 96sleeper is the fastest s/c 3.5 that I know.

I just don't get those 350 guys! They have a superior platform (by that I mean RWD, since we're talking about drag racing) more power to start with, etc., yet they seem like they have no clue what they're doing when it comes to FI. No wonder people think 350Z's are such a waste of time.

96sleeper, can't blame you for not wanting to gut the car or throw a bunch more money at your Maxima.

Its kinda funny looking at post on my350z where people say I finally took my built twin turbo setup to the strip and ran a 12.3. Then say I'm pleased with the results lmao. I'm like if I spent 10-15 grand on a setup like that I'd better be running mid 10's. I'm not bashing 350z's I just dont understand how they arent running faster than they are. I do think the HR Z's will change that though.

Yeah, 12.3 lol - I'll likely be disappointed in that with the 3.5 N/A this season!

Well weight has something to do with it but it doesn't explain all of it. There are some of them with FI setups running really low 11's however. But yeah once the HR development builds up it'll get interesting.

I'm pretty sure you could have said that all along because I believe mardi ran 11s in street trim way back in the day with his turbo setup. I'm not 100% positive on that but I believe that's the case. 96sleeper might well have been the first (and only) guy with an SC to do it though, I'm not sure if mardi had full interior when he ran 11.98 way back when with his SC+nitrous. I have made all my runs in my turbo car with full interior also.

edit: just wanted to clarify that I am absolutely not trying to take anything away from 96sleeper's achievement by pointing that out of course.

Yeah I wasnt sure about mardis runs before my time. I just remember the few times I've seen his car at the track he had the the bottom part of his back seat out. Of course it probably didnt make much difference but you know how the maxima haters are "Oh he had his back seat out blah blah blah" lol. **** you could be gutted and sitting a stool with nuthin but metal around and a steering wheel and I'd still be lol.

Nice times bro!. I would definitely get a 6 or 4 puck sprung if your daily driving un sprung if not. Along with the extreme it should be a huge improvement over the disc.

btw I wish I could get a 11 with a 110 trap.....

Congrads Matt! Looks like I need to get off my ***. I shattered both lower motor mounts a few months ago, and have not had time to make new ones. I'll have to come out and see you run. We have an auto-x at Dade county next weekend. You should come out.
