4th Gen PB 15.05@92.5mph

Went to Firebird International Raceway tonight. I only got 3 runs in, it was really crowded. I was planning on fine tuning my shift points (USIM) and tire pressures, but there was just too many people. Ran a new pb of 15.05@92.5mph with front tires at 30 psi and rears at 35 psi. Ill have a video uploaded monday.

Mods are y pipe, hi flow cat, catback, cone filter, untuned EU, and Illumina struts/springs.
EDIT I was going through my EU datalogs to see if I could find the reason behind me running quicker times with the USIM than with the 00vi, turns out I had a 12 timing advance across the board - I didn't even have a wideband at the time.. Once I figured out this timing advance was causing my idle issues, I set the timing back to stock then installed the 00vi a month later and didn't think twice about the timing. So this provides some clsure to me as to why I ran mid 15's at best with the 00vi and stock timing.

First run, I went against a 7th gen. I missed 3rd and ran 15.7. Didn't get a chance to talk to the guy, but Im guessing his car was stock.

Second run, ran the 15.05. Massive wheel hop set off the knock sensor

Third run, totally F'd up. Let the clutch out too early and didn't have the gas pedal down far enough for the 2 step to kick in, thus launching at 6500 and spinning my tires halfway down the track. :/

Video of 15.0 Run

Thanks! Im pretty content with the numbers, but I think I can squeeze some 14.xx runs w/ a 1/4 tank of gas and a better launch. Wasn't thinking when I filled up last week so I ran with a near full tank of gas..

The cams are going in with ported&polished heads and HR(?) valvesprings hopefully this summer. I want to squeeze all I can out of shortram intake/headers/00vi/tune before I dig into the engine.

Not bad for your mods and only 3 runs, nice work.

Too much PSI, lower to 25 atleast, When I ran 22psi it virtually killed my wheel hop problems, but I trapped 91

Got about the same mods too.

Sucks being so close to the 14s you can taste it... and we both know our cars can do it too.... If the weather is good enough this friday I may go back to the track.

Good luck man! Hope to see more things outta that EU.

Oh you will. After the 00vi I'm rasing the rev limit and getting a wideband.

woulda been cool to beat the 7th gen if you didn't miss a shift on your 1st run. I used to miss 3rd gear some times. I solved that problem with a short shifter. New control arm bushings, ball joints, and filled engine mounts took care of the wheel hop. I'm sure you'll break into the 14's next trip.

I agree. Ill look into getting those parts once I get a job and have a somewhat disposable income. Thanks!

Yeah, it set off a code for the crank REF sensor and the knock sensor. And snapped the zip-tie holding my cone filter down.

Im still working on the driver mod, this was only my second time at the track.

The first time I ran my car the wheel hop was so bad that it turned the windshield wipers on.

That's why I only did 3 runs in Kansas, I was scared for me axles.

Had a different set of problems down here in Houston, but I got in 5 or 6 runs, most of my problems were from driver error though, the tires, car, and track were all great that day.
