Ahh I see, a 5200 elevation track would certainly sap my desire to hit the track, haha.

I bet you end up with an extra resonator in the 3". Most people seem to like or not mind the rasp, but it drove me nuts, lol.

Yes ..you know me, because, well, hell, we think the same ...

but, I'm ridding myself of the test pipe and adding a fastcat.

The smell got old too.

So, we'll see. I already have Plan B & C for the sound if I don't like it

ahh I bet the fastcat will kill most of the rasp.

You know I have noticed that when I have an exhaust setup that lets lots of rasp through, I also throw flames... As soon as I get the rasp under control, all the flames burn up in the resonators never to be seen behind my car. Oh well, guess I can't have my rice and eat it too

edit: well I guess I could be like Steven and add a bunch of fuel to try and throw flames LOL

The rasp I had with the 3" was only REALLY noticeable when sitting still revving at WOT. I really couldn't hear it too much under load, most people would consider it a "racey" sound.

congrats, nice times..

what is your race weight?

also, are u running the two step off of the utec?

My 2 step is set at 2300 RPM's and I have no way to adjust. UpRev has not unlocked my ECU so that I can utilize their software to make these adjustments. Kind of dissapointed but I know these things take time.

man I need to drop some LSD!!

the 3" rasp is definitely hard to deal with.

just two weeks ago I threw on a 30" glasspack, yes.... glasspack! the rasp is completely gone and the sound is pretty nice. I was hesitant on the glasspack but on someones recommendation I tried it. yes, the baffled core is a little more restrictive but nothing a 3" cutout cant take care of. Borla actually uses baffled cores...

UoRev has your ECU (A33B I'm assuming?) I must have missed this. Rasp will be gone with the additions of a fastcat I hope.

But if you're rocking UTEC ... you have a sorta pseudo Z33 unit ...?

I have UpRev Cipher for mine, but it's limited to very little items.

i had my car tuned at UpRev in Austin, Texas. I was lucky their software guy was there when I went because they had to find a "backdoor" so to speak, to get into my ECU. I would like to purchase the pro-tuner software so I can adjust and learn on my own but they have not found a solution.

i used to have a utec but sold it. i was unable to utilize the two step on the utec. i know that the 05 Altima SER has the same unit. they also share the same MAF with the 03-06 Z.

Well that's good news. After repeated attempts, non of us A33B and related guys were ever able to get their attention online. Looks like you have since got the furthest with this

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Well it won't override the ECU rev limiter, but it can set a timing cut limiter if you don't like the soft limiter on the UTEC or other tuning device.

It allows for WOT shifts (power cut on clutch switch) and 2-step, as the main functions.

Yeah, that's a bust man!

I have had no 2nd gear for the last three months. 1st to 3rd sucks. Almost got enough to fix it though.

I am just going to get the spec v tranny and swap the bell housing. Then I'll get an LSD in the process. Plus the spec v trannies are way cheaper.

Yeah. I found a 36k miles 06 spec V trans for 350 bucks... compared to the 900+ for 05-06 maxima trans that usually don't even have a LSD.

Yeah they are pretty cheap. I found an 11k mile 04 spec v trans for $400.

The only thing is swapping the bellhousing is a pretty involved task.

It's beyond just involved, it requires many special tools and measuring devices. The best thing to do is to take it to a shop and spend the 150-300 dollars to get it all swapped over.

Yeah, I wanted to do the swap myself, but I don't want to buy the tools lol.

My 3rd gear went out Saturday night when I was about 2 miles away from my house going home. I'm driving a hot primered truck around for a while.

Me and him are proving that they apparently aren't that strong.
My second gear is gone and third might be on it's way out lol. His third is gone.

4th seems to be strong though. Still power shifting 3-4 daily lol.

That's not cool. Does it feel like it's in gear, but it rev's like it's in neutral or does it just not go in to 2nd at all?

What's power shifting? lol jk

I break 3rd-4th shift fork about once a year. I've had to replace a few ISB's as well. Last time I had tranny problems, the 3rd gear syncro was fubar'd from power shifting with n2o. I fixed all of it myself for next to nothing. I always open the case to fix it with the bell housing still bolted to the engine in the car. lol.

What happened to your camaro?

I love powershifting! Makes driving a lot more fun!
It seems like it goes halfway in gear than just revs and pops out of gear. It might be the shift fork actually. Could be bent and that is what isn't allowing me to get all the way into gear. I don't know. I hate transmissions lol.

I totaled my Camaro in October of 2008, had to get a 4 door to keep the insurance down. Found this 6th gen for mad cheap so I picked it up. Always liked the VQ engines.
My car suprises a lot of people and I have raced this thing more than my Camaro lol.

Sounds like the syncro. You might try to push it really hard into gear. sometimes it'll go in.

VQ's are awesome. I can't wait to get my VQ S13 coupe running. I finally stopped spending money on the maxima and now it's all going toward the S13. The goal is 600-700 whp and 2000-2200 lbs. Might have to wear depends when I drive it.

Sorry for the OT rambling...

I thought about doing a 240sx for awhile. The fact that they hook very well was the main thing. Stock springs and AGX's are all the car needs.

Alot of the 02-03 6-speeds seem to fail after 100k miles. They hold up well to power, though.

And yeah Krazy6 yours sounds like something a little less violent than what happened to mine. I doubt mine would last more than 2-3 days of driving it before the other gears got eaten up by debris from the shattered 3rd.

Yeah I considered the 240sx as my project car for a while. What I found is that the drift tax makes it very hard to find a clean shell for a swap for a reasonable price.

So I just went with a FC RX-7. 400 bucks got me a clean almost rust-free 87 with 100k original miles.

FC's are cool too. Plus you can find them for mad cheap, just like you did.

I found a clean FC in my area for $250 with a blown motor. I really wanted to pick it up, but have no more room at the house.
