Went back to track last Friday

I'm kind of disappointed in results. I was hoping to get in 8's. Now I'm talking about 1/8 mile.

I ran 3 passes (Intake, Headers, Exhaust 3" cattman, and BOP)
9.3@78
9.3@79
9.3@78

My PB
9.1@79(I ran that 4 times)(Intake and Headers only)

Only difference is 3" cattman cat-back and bop. It weird that I ran slower than before and car feels much more powerfull. I think it's the BOP hurting my times.

Talk about consistency. I too think the BOP is hurting those times. Especially in the 1/8' mile and no extended rev limit and stock FWD CVTC curves.

I am going to take it off this week. I'm getting it dyno too. I went to get it dyno last friday shop closed down on me. I want to see the difference in power.

Dyno's have been done, and of course for the pretties curve, etc, the BP might be best, but track times are reflective of all area under the curve. My guess would be if you tracked @ a 1/4 your times might be similar with the BP giving a better trap. But for 1/8th, I'd think you'd want the most pre 4K power available from launch. I think it be a better comparison if you tried it at the track before and after (1/8th) vs a dyno.

Ask Sparks, he notices the best times with a functional VI. Albeit for any particular set-up (non raised rev limit & stock CVTC curves) .

I was thinking the same thing. Car does pull alot harder on highway then taking off from dig. All I do is 1/8 mile. I think 1/4 mile is too much for me. Although since you have done so many dynos of your car, Can you tell me by changing the Cat-Back does it make the air fuel ratio change?

I've only done fairly minor cat-back changes, and have never changed the muffler. The Cattman 3" might do so, I have yet to install mine, but I will let you know when I find out.

I did notice a difference in MAF flow % with a certain resonator, which, theoretically should change AFR. But yeah.

I had a similar experience with the BOP. My 02 6-speed HATED it. . . I lost on average .3 seconds and around 2-3mph in trap speed. I even took it to the track one day to try and get rid of the inconsistencies and swapped it out between runs.

I'm going to just leave the damn VIAS in there. Seems like around town flexibility and low end power suffer alot with that BOP on.

So I put back on my stock VIAS. Low end power is amazing but on the highway it feels weak. I went back to track Friday. I ran two runs with 9.2@79 9.2@78. It was 93F at the track. I would've gotten better time if I had my car tuned. It was messed up really bad. Still did better than BOP. 70% of me telling me to put back the BOP on because how fast the car pull on highways. 30% saying no because of bad launch time. I have talk to guy where I get my car dyno done. He was going to let me change the VIAS in between the runs. Hopefully the power loss is not much on low end. So I get to put back the BOP.

I was getting pissed about my times lately so I went to the track Friday again. I seriously think it's the weather that's robing my times. I raced Mustang GT300 and Acura TL Type S 6speed. Both of them ran slower than me. Later on I talk to the Mustang owner he told me he ran 8.8 here before and he was running 9.4 9.5 all day Friday. Well track temp was 89F. I made three runs 9.4@78,9.5@77,9.4@78 stock VIAS. I took the tool kit with me and the BOP so I changed it out at the track and I ran couple of 9.3@78 and then I ran one 9.2 @79. I was just wondering anybody hitting track lately and are you guys getting some bad times in this hot weather?

Yes the weather will effect your times like this. Check the DA for the days you ran and you can use a calculator to see what your times would be if the weather was "good". I took my Z to the track wednesday and ran 13.8@102. I usually run 13.3@105. My girl ran her 3.5 4th gen and could only get a 14.0@98 out of it. The car usually runs 13.8-13.7's@100. You can use this to correct your times. http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...ect+ET+and+MPH

I feel better now. I'm not the only one running slow. My goal was to be in high 8's in 1/8 mile. I am sure i'm in 8's but I have to wait till it gets cold around here.

air temp is only part of the story but you'll definitely lose a couple mph due to 90 degree weather as opposed to 60s or 70s. barometric pressure is the other major part of the equation. humidity plays a tiny tiny part as well, but not significant enough that you can blame bad times on high humidity. practice while it's hot so that when it cools down you're able to see what your car is truly capable of.

Yesterday I changed my air filter. I had K&N filter on and I changed it to regular cone air filter that came with my CAI Kit. I was surprised with how the response of my throttle got lot better. I think that filter was hurting my performance.
