Went to island dragway last friday and ran the maxima down the track a bunch of times. Here are my times, struggling to get 14's lowered the tire pressure to 22psi and left it their. Its auto has injen CAI, and megan racing cat back, manually shifted through the gears. Please leave advice!

Just work on getting those 60 foots down. That will help.

The mph seems weak to me though. I'll let some other people chime in.

Yea i have but i have also read that the numbers arent as bad as the price. And i feel like my tire pressure killed me. Could not hook up, felt like my tires spun for forever!

I wouldn't worry about tire pressure to much on street tires. Just roll into the throttle.

Have you thought about getting some drag radials or slicks for the track?

that too........... numbers couldn't be as bad as the price, you would probebly have to loose about 10whp to match that... change the intake, tire pressure was fine, how's the threads on the tire??? What was the temperature?

those traps are really low unless it was EXTREMELY hot like 100+ degrees, which you said it wasn't. power/weight ratio is off, do you have a bunch of extra weight in the car or anything? if not, i think the car is missing some power.

tire pressure had nothing to do with your trap speeds being low. 22psi is pretty typical for street tires. at the track.

1/4 tank of gas??? I know it seems like a silly question, but I went to the track with a little above 3/4 tank one week and ran a best of 97-98MPH, returned the next week on 1/4 tank and ran 99-100MPH. Temperature outside wasn't that much different and of course same tires and pressure etc...

Had spare and jack taken out and floor mats! I dont know whats up! Will go back to island this friday and find out. Could it be that i have been driving the car hard for a few weeks. Or something to do with a clogged cat. Replaced it today and could barely see through it. Had all sorts of stuff in their.

Do you have pics of the old cat? This is the main cat I'm assuming. Also, no big stereo equipment?

No dub-dueces either?

Get rid of that Injen intake! It's holding you back!!!! It's 39" long and can't move the air through itself at higher RPM as fast as the engine needs it......Here's an experiment just take the lower half off and you'll see your engine make more power without that power losing flat spot @ the 2nd>3rd gear change a few hundred ft from the end of the 1/4 mi..or 1320ft.....my best time was a 14.6sec/1320ft, 2.17/60ft with that Injen....I'm also an A/T....I made this intake for about $100 dude.....all it does is pull......

You have all the parts to make this intake right now (Free!!!!!)This is my Pre-bellmouth intake.... Use your old Helmholtz>MAF>Injen MAF adapter>filter!

Shouldn't be that hard.

Use all your old tubing (accordion with clamps) attach them to the TB, then to the stock black box (Helmholtz resonator), use the old MAF rubber tubing to attach to the stock MAF housing, and use the Injen MAF adapter to attach the filter to the MAF housing.

Not hard at all really.

....... just make your own, ur not f'ed, your ******* yourself......... just use the couplers, filter and MAF.. TB-coupler-MAF-MAF adapter-Filter (intake made) use a breather filter on the valve cover.... if ur hard pressed to see some chrome piping just use the injen like the other owner did.... I'm done hear

He's done here! But he's right.....you've got everything you need right in your hands.....The best thing about Injen is the adapter! I was a big injen fan until it run me into a wall...ET wise! Just take your Injen off and you've got plenty of couplings, clamps, the adapter, the filter and of course the MAF......you got it in your possession!!!!

Will give it a try. And i never planned on buying another was going to buy the helmholtz from the stock intake and then make it but for now this will work great!

Thanks for the correction, I blame all those on my cellphone as that's where I post from... to the OP you can buy whatever you like if it makes you feel better, we were just saying you have whatever it is to make it work now but if it gives you peace of mind to buy something else then by all means do so, just as long as ur not using the injen as a cold air then cool..... (didn't I say I was done here???) .... oh cmax, what filter are you using on your intake I think I wanna change from a filter to that lil cone metal thing (don't know the name for it )

Hold on the black tube connected to the helmhotz accordian box has no where to go with the new intake! It ussually goes with the stell piping on the injen one?

i have the same exact mods (injen intake, MR catback) auto and i was running 14.7 @ 94 2.27 60 ft but i felt like i was gettin no traction at all and i was letting it shift on its own. i had jack and spare and everything still in and 1/4 tank. i definitely want to try with a short ram intake and manually shifting

Cmax and Nmexmax, I have the SRi intake setup right now and Zeead just did my timing. I think the max (auto ) pulls like a champ right now. Are you saying hybrid it with the helmhotltz like this and it will pull even better..?

I doubt they can gurantee that, basically from what people are saying is that with the helmholtz box the throttle response feels improved... and they feel like acceleration is smoother, mostly **** dyno though so I won't say it pulls harder or delivers more power....

No, the Helmholtz as I've stated a trillion times (at least) helps create smoother power delivery.

Dyno proven of course.

Helmholtz:

Straight pipe:

We clear?

I'll sacrifice a little peak hp for the smoother sound of the box and throttle tip in too of course.
