Even more scary on a RWD, where they are on the front and a front tire failure is much more devastating. He ran spare tire skinnies at the track recently, not for the 12.9 PB.

Using spare tire donuts that are rated for 50mph is a different story entirely...
yeah, i do understand.. just in the case the car gets squirrely which is not very likely without a turn via FWD. i am sure it is safe, especially on some welds, just being cautious as i have some experience with a spare on the rear for a day or so and the fun i had with it. lol... nvm.

2 skinnies that are made to take the speed and properly inflated aren't dangerous. I don't see having any issues with the rearend coming unplanted on a FWD. Your ability to hold the car still during the burnout will be decreased and the brakes won't work as well at their max due to the reduced tread width. Not too big a deal.

We've already seen JayPee trap over 110mph with just boltons, cams, and a VAFC tune. With more weight reduction and tuning plus the perfect day, it's possible.
Aaron has trapped over 114 already in an automatic with S1 cams, headwork, full boltons, and UTEC tune. Sure, it weighs around 2700 lbs, but this certainly sets our sights high for traps on the 6-speed cars.
Awesome deal on the skinnies! I've seen those be good for 1-2mph traps on 12-13 second domestics, couldn't be too much different for us. Plus the weight reduction...
I'm a little more stoked to hit the track again after looking back over some timeslips and comparing. I won't clutter your thread with the slips, but I may actually do some weight reduction while I'm at it to see how much I can squeeze out of it with the current setup before it goes under the knife for a few changes and real dyno tuning this spring.
I've been playing with some fun formulas to determine what will do me best for intake length and piping diameter and will be making some changes to my current setup to go along with a SSIM. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out in dyno comparisons.

Feel free to clutter this thread. If it deals with a sick maxima, which yours is, it's cool.

That's the way to do it. Did the same thing with my camaro. I love selling parts for more then you buy them for.

Ok here comes some clutter.
0 DA, PB trap run from 2009 (#77). Passenger seat and all tools removed, stripped trunk.

1800 DA, PB trap and ET runs from this year (#1). This is with 100% full weight, even a bag of tools and my torque wrench left in the car because nobody was there with me to watch my stuff and keep it from getting stolen.

If I can drop 100-150lbs, hook equally as well in a 0ish DA, should be some pretty nice times to be had.

I probably won't remove the sound deadening in my car, but I may pull out the whole interior among lots of other small things if I end up setting my sights on that 12.51. Shoot, I can do even more weight reduction if I work out a few times a week.
Yeah when stripping my RX-7, it was pretty easy to get the concept with weight reduction in a car that a whole bunch of small weight reductions eventually adds up to a large amount. Even dremeling off and removing pointless brackets helps.

That'd be awesome if you run the 12.51.

My goal is to run consistent high 12s. I am gonna see about fitting some 5.5 gen brakes in the front so I can run some 15" wheels. Then some 24.5s will find their way on the car and I'll be able to hook.

I could afford to lose a couple pounds myself.
seriously word up on the 12.9 run!!! i knew this car was capable of doing better than 14.4 on an almost stock setup ,gives a brother hope! lollll hey by the way i dd like to get slicks what size would be ideal to purchase ???
I ran a 26x11.50-16 Mickey Thompson ET STREET.
I had to grind the calipers to fit the 16" wheels though.
I was really excited when I got this slip! A lot of hard work has paid off right here.

Ran a couple of other passes, but could not get the car to hook. All passes were around 106-107MPH.
Runs were made at KCIR. Density Altitude: 1712 feet || Relative Density: 95.08 %
http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...time=1:54%20PM
Here are the mods:
Fujita intake
3" exhaust back to a single magnaflow muffler (Still running the stock exhaust manifolds and stock cats)
NWP spacers
NWP Block off plate
15lb Lawnmower battery (only cost $25 at walmart)
26x11.5-16 ET Streets mounted on FD RX7 wheels (super lightweight)
Lots of weight reduction
Blue tape rear "diffuser".
(Blocks off the air gap between the gas tank and the rear bumper cover. Reduced drag a lot. When you see honda civics with holes in the rear bumper, this is pretty much doing the same thing. Diverting the air from getting trapped in the rear bumper. I gained a lot of mph from last time with this being pretty much the only change.)
I didn't use the spare tire skinnies this time, as this track would not allow it.
Really simple setup with very little money invested.
My goal was to hit 12s without headers and a tune. If I can get the car too hook, it should run some 12.7s in the near future.
Here is the good stuff:

Maxima in "race" trim

Me and Harold's(Grey99max) beast! Harold is living proof that this 12 second pass happened.

Here is the motor, nothing special.

Here is proof of the stock manifolds

Here is my amazingly ghetto but functional "diffuser"
Gained ~2mph with just this change.
Here are the slips:

Spun a little bit on the launch. I was super excited when I got my 12.9 slip.

Spun quite a bit on the launch.

Spun a lot on the launch.
Car feels really good. Absolutely lights up the street tires on the street.
Let me know what you guys think!

It's really hard to believe the 6thgen does that good without spray or turbo but I gotta give you the benefit of the doubt. I don't think someone will post pics of their car, race slips and engine bay for just bragging right.
If my car goes that fast i'd be laughing

Thread resurrection.......Great times man, congrats! You must've taken what, 4-500lbs out of the car? That's a great trap as well for such little mods. Have you ever dyno'd? Lightweight 16s definitely helped in your efforts as well. Not only for ET, but trap speed as well.
I haven't posted here in awhile, ever since my buddy got rid of his 4G Max. I just came on to see what some of the Max's are running as far as 1/4 mile times for comparison and came across this. Very impressive. Hopefully I will be joining you in the 12s soon

Yeah those 16inch wheels were only 13.8lbs each. The 2 16" wheels /slicks were 50lbs lighter than the 2 stock wheels/tires.
Good luck on hitting 12s man! Was a fun time for me!

Thanks man!
Took about 600lbs out of the car. Thanks man! Never dynoed the car, I could careless lol, the trap speed tells all.

Dyno guy said get rid of the codes and run it again
Yo krazy6 honestly I would love to know what you're putting down. I just don't understand this dyno thing because I did mine lastnight and got 239whp when other guys with the same setup altima is getting 255whp+ at a different dyno. I still got a few troubled codes but I don't think it will rob me that much

Dyno's all read differen't for the most part some more than other's. I went on one and made 328/305 and another i made 287/250 and they were 6 months apart and the car was running exactly the same. Dynojet usually reads the highest and from what i see Dyno Dynamics seem to read the lowest.
