Blew my Motah at the track saturday
Yup that right I made one small mistake and I blew my engine. Which car you ask? My %*&^ 350Z FTMFL. So my plan was to go to the track throw on the slicks and finally get some 11 second passes under my belt but obviously that didnt happen. I made 2 passes N/A on street tires just get a feel for the track as I always do and ran 13.3@104. There was a slight headwind which explains my low trap speed. After those runs I decided to go for the fastest street tire time on my350z which is 12.345. I ran 12.349 on my 19's a few weeks ago and today I was on my stock rims and tires so it should have been easy to do. So usually before I run my nitrous I stop in the pitts, open the bottle, purge it and switch to my nitrous map but my bottle was already open and the system was already purged so I went straight back to the lanes. I launched the car and hit the nitrous around 3500 rpm and the car wheel hopped like hell. I shift into second and everything is fine but when I went into 3rd I felt a huge drop in power but it kicked back in for a second. Then it died out again this time the check engine light flashed and I hear a huge backfire and theres a trail of white smoke behind me. I quickly let out closed the bottle, purge the lines and shut the car off. I check under the car and its not leaking, check the oil theres no coolant and check under the hood everything looks normal. I get in the car and try to start it and the engine barely turned. Then it hit me I SPRAYED ON MY N/A TUNE SMH. My tuner told me over and over again to make sure not to do it. So yeah I failed. The engine is done and I'm in the process of pulling it now. I did end up running a 12.4@107 while blowing my motor lol.

Stock engine. Saturday was supposed to be the last time it saw the track. Once I got that 11 second slip I was going to part it out and sell the car. Since that didnt happen I have 2 weeks before tracks close to get it running and try one more time. My GF is making me try again so she doesnt have to hear me talk about how close I was to 11's anymore lol.

Its just time to move on. Theres not much else I want to do with it. I dont have plans for turbo, S/C or any kind of big build. Not to mention I've been neglecting my max lol. Plus I could always get a 370z later down the line.

You really gotta put the 4th gen back together lol

Yeah it was a bad day all around. After that happend I refused to swap to my slicks in fear of needing two tow trucks. I thought blowing my clutch line the night before was bad. That in it's self was bad but blowing a tire on the highway going to the track I should not have run my car. My cell phone died my laptod died. My tune was jacked up. I am sure you would trade all of that for your motor

Rounded the last transmission bolt before the engine could come out so the car is at the shop. It should be done in 2 days. I got a free set of headers and a new exhaust that Im throwing on it and I'm thinking of dynoing the car once its running to make sure the motor is healthy.

Nice you should do a VQ37 swap with it then spray it. The 370's are running 12.2's - 12.4's with bolt-ons and a tune. You're not getting rid of the max are you?

Yup that motor was good to me. At one time I was spraying a 100 shot on a mild N/A tune and it didnt skip a beat. Then I blew it up smh. The max is in storage and has been neglected due to my GF's max and my brothers max. I75% done my full swap on it just have to wire in the guage cluster, install the dash harness connectors and put the tranny in. That will be after the cams are in my fiance's 3.5 and tuned.

Damn bro that sucks. Nice pass though but it sucks that I had to cost you an engine. I'm now getting into the drag racing with my 6thgen max and I'm scared to do any major mods.
I mean it comes with the territory that when you increase hp you have to either go through a tranny, engine, driveshaft,ECU etc. I just want to do 14's flat or late 13's and I'll be good

Good luck! I know the feeling though. I spun a bearing 12k miles after my motor got built in my Probe. I plan to make another pass at getting into the 13's in my car and then I can retire it from track duty. (the track local to me is re-opening)

sorry to hear bro... i remember my first lean nitrous backfire scares the h*ll out of you and youll never do it again....but for me it ended up throwin a rod threw the side of the block...so you got lucky
