Kansas City International Raceway
Kansas City International Raceway
Has anybody here had experience racing at KCIR as opposed to Heartland Park, Topeka? I've wondered how these two tracks add up next to each other in terms of comparison, as I've never been out to Heartland Park.
oh yeah, and...first thread

heartland is sticky as hell!
raced there a couple years back when i had my maxima. got some stupid mph and the same time as i got at kcir.
then i ran in ennis texas with the max. much better times and mph
kcir isn't that bad, just takes a while to get used to the surface

p.s. CAI is gone foreEVER. talk about crappy trap speeds, sheesh.
According to the guys at kcsr.org, Heartland is just as inconsistent has KCIR in terms of performance. I've raced at Mo/Kan which was supposed to be a better track, but I was slow as hell (weather for the most part). I use to think KCIR was crap, but I've changed my opinion. As long as you stay in the right lane, all is well. I've pulled off lower-mid 2.2s numerous times this year with soft 2500-3000rpm launches which is pretty good for FWD and street tires. I will venture to Heartland when the weather is cooler and I've got my VI installed.
I have come to learn this, unless you run drag tires, you will have to rely of sheer power to net you a good ET/MPH. Street tires just don't cut it on the track. Take a look around next time at KCIR and you'll see that nearly everyone else is running at least drag radials. Nearly all the quick guys in the this org run drag tires too.
