i heard that adjusting the valve clearance for my 84 maxima wagon can greatly improve performance. I tried it and it really did improve. However i have only adjusted 5 valve out of the 12 valves. The 2 bolts that tie the valve for adjusting was too tight.

Anybody know what im talking about and can teach me some tricks to loosen the bolts? Thanks

Re: yea

i finally got them all adjusted, you need two guys to get the job done if the valve have never been adjusted. They are inside the valve cover. I recommend you buy a Chilton Manuel for your 87 max. It will tell you how to do it. There are two clearance specification, one for exhaust and one for intake. becareful not to over tighten the clearance its better to leave it more loose than tight. or the engine will have rough idle and shaking.

I wouldn't really think that just by adjusting your valves you would get such greater performance. You might get a couple horsepower or a couple more miles per gallon, but you dont see a whole lot more performance in that usually.
